What We’re Looking For:

As a Director of information security in the Governance and Standards team, you will work with internal and external stakeholders across all business units to contribute to the maturation of 2U’s systems, controls, applications and processes. By assessing, designing and consulting of Cybersecurity standards and controls, you will use your experience and influence to act as an ambassador of 2U’s Cybersecurity Program and work closely with employees and partners to ensure standards are measured, upheld and matured.

As an individual, you will lead complex tasks with minimal supervision and act as a vital member of the global cybersecurity team, as well as, a valuable embedded resource within 2U governance teams.

This is a fully remote position, but to encourage team connectedness (e.g. ease with getting to team off-sites etc.) we prefer to hire individuals within 50 miles of one of our office locations.

Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To:


  • Participate and represent Cybersecurity in all annual compliance projects and  initiatives.
  • Participate in annual PCI-DSS, SOC2 and SOX assessments and attestations.
  • Complete internal and external partner and vendor onboarding assessments.
  • Work with teams across business units to translate governance requirements and standards into tangible controls and solutions.
  • Identify control weaknesses and deficiencies and work with the necessary stakeholders to correct and remediate.
  • Identify and treat Cyber Risk and related issues that originate from Third Party Risk Management and Enterprise Risk Management processes.
  • Help drive NIST CSF maturation across all business units. 
  • Adopt a forward thinking approach, and plan, to the GRC space considering International standards (i.e. ISO 27001/27701, etc) that can facilitate 2U’s global growth.
  • Identify required security training for engineers, developers and internal security team, where necessary.


  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and standards with the aim of constantly improving the organization's security posture.
  • Be active in the Cybersecurity communities and stay informed on current threats, attack techniques and strategies.


  • Open to change and ability to pivot to different priorities and situations.
  • Must be able to work well independently as well as part of a larger team.
  • Ability to work on a diverse team with a diverse range of people.

Things That Should Be In Your Background:

  • 5 years of combined experience in IT engineering, security or related fields.
  • Knowledge of Security Frameworks and best practices (PCI-DSS, NIST, ISO27001, Cobit, etc).
  • Enterprise Risk Management frameworks and processes.
  • Threat and vulnerability management policies, systems and remediations.
  • Expert in securing environments and applying security best practices.
  • Documenting, implementing and measuring controls and processes.
  • Defining and measuring KPIs and KRIs.
  • Able to conduct assessments and communication of the results thereof.
  • Advanced technical courses (ex. CISSP,CISM,CISA).
  • Experience with technical and narrative writing.

In Colorado, the anticipated base salary for this role is $140,000.00 with potential bonus and equity eligibility. Note: The final compensation for this position may consider factors including the geographic location where the work is performed (candidate’s assigned office) and prior work experience of the candidate.
