You will provide technical leadership for a team supporting Digital and Telemetry Product development across L3 T&RF product lines. You will be directly involved in the proposal effort, design, integration, test and sustaining support of digital and analog systems. A high level of technical content and participation is anticipated with this position. Expertise in digital and analog PWA designs including power systems, high bit rate design techniques, and high density FPGA designs that would include architecting/design and verification of complex VHDL designs is highly desired.
You will have the opportunity to:
Lead the project team in defining requirements, planning and executing project plans, participating in design reviews and supporting production release of modified or new products.
Review product specifications; generate system and module-level block diagrams, flow diagrams and design concepts.
Design, test and integrate hardware sub-systems and modules.
Utilize simulation tools or design tools to implement hardware designs in telemetry products.
Conduct disciplined failure analysis to arrive at root cause for issues. Design or recommend effective corrective actions.
Interface with manufacturing, quality, production and customer service to support all aspects of the Digital and Telemetry product line.
Support product processes, such as BOM's (Bill of Materials) and ECO's (Engineering Change Order).
Evaluate program risks and develop mitigation plans to reduce or eliminate program impact.
Prepare and present technical data at internal and customer design reviews.
BS degree in Electrical Engineering with 10 years of relevant experience or MSEE and a minimum of 8 years of electrical hardware experience desired.
Experience using schematic design and hardware simulation tools, preferably OrCAD and PSpice.
Detailed understanding of digital circuit and/or FPGA design, preferably VHDL and ModelSim.
Skilled in a lab environment using lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, protocol analyzers, and signal generators.
Experience with Bill of Materials (BOM) management and Engineering Change Control (ECO) processes.
Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal).
Proficient with Office Suite tools, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio.
This position requires travel up to 10% of the time.
This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance. Preference will be given to candidates with an active Secret (or higher) clearance at the time of hire.
Advanced HDL verification techniques and methodologies.
Familiarity with Printed Wiring Board layout tools, such as PADS.
Experience with Xilinx and Microsemi FPGA development tools.
Experience with hands-on EMI test support.
Experience with MATLAB.
Experience using LabVIEW software.
Knowledge and experience with components selection, design for airborne applications including harsh environments.
Able to work closely with mechanical, components and software engineers to consider thermal, power, reliability, DFX and other design trade-offs.
Ability and experience with project planning and proposal activities (Technical Volume development, estimating engineering tasks, working with Program Managers to create and update development schedules including earned value progress).
