    Job Description

    Moody’s Climate Operations is responsible for the oversign and execution of production processes that ensure the accuracy and timely delivery of climate risk data to support the Climate business line within Moody’s ESG business and its affiliates.

    This role will suit a highly motivated problem solver with excellent communication skills and a proven ability to use their own initiative and work with minimal supervision. The responsibilities of a quantitative analyst include:
    • Develop in-depth knowledge of data pipelines supporting climate change risk analytics, including a detailed understanding of business objectives and workflow processes.
    • Develop an understanding of the business logic, methods, and standards deployed on Moody’s ESG’s proprietary database of corporate asset-level information, including known strengths and weaknesses.
    • With supervision, operate the corporate climate risk analytics data pipeline to develop result sets from source data. Review curated output of technology processes, including data validation and quality assurance reports.
    • Research potential quality and consistency issues with corporate and asset-level data included in data quality reports. Document findings, implement data review procedures in dashboards, and escalate material quality concerns to management.
    • Develop documentation of workflow processes for climate technical operations, creating and maintaining a set of reference information that can be shared with diverse stakeholders across Moody’s ESG.
    • Identify patterns in data validation and quality assurance reports to suggest incremental improvements to business logic to address common cases.
    Work to continuously improve quality standards and data governance controls through hands on experience with the data, suggesting potential improvements to management and collaborating on implementation challenges.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Operations, Management, Engineering, Accounting, Finance or a related field.
    • Experience with financial and capital markets, reading corporate filings, and desktop research of corporate organizational information and activity.
    • Proficient in analytical software tools, e.g. intermediate+ Excel, and some programming proficiency, e.g. Python
    • Some proficiency with commonly used database systems, e.g. SQL, and preferably cloud-based systems, e.g. Snowflake, AWS S3, Athena, DynamoDB, etc..
    • Some experience with financial information platforms like FactSet (preferred), Bloomberg, Eikon, Capital IQ, etc. desirable
    • Strong analytical skills, persistence, and willingness to learn new technologies.
    • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and able to work independently.
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
