Facebook seeks a Policy Communications Manager, Central Products to support a wide range of initiatives and programs for the Policy Communications Team. This role will provide communications support for our integrity and content enforcement, as well as any new products related to this work. Candidates should have a good understanding of technology issues, content enforcement, our policies and the social debate around our platforms. They should also have a deep understanding of the media landscape, have strong media relations, writing skills and a strong track-record of building successful communications campaigns. A key part of the role will be partnering with our policy, product, operations teams and other communications colleagues to publicly explain our approach to integrity issues and content enforcement more generally.

  • Lead communications activities on relevant integrity topics
  • Develop proactive campaigns to educate new and existing users on issues related to Facebook’s content enforcement
  • Develop and pitch stories related to Facebook’s content enforcement approach and processes
  • Create sustainable programs that help educate the press, policy makers and groups on Facebook’ approach to content enforcement
  • Work with our global Comms, Policy, Legal, Product, Partnership, and Operations teams to build, understand and communicate on policies and governance initiatives that support and protect our community and reputation
  • Develop and create a wide range of communications materials including blog posts, communications plans, statements, briefing materials for executives and more
  • Manage in-bound press inquiries on a range of issues related to content enforcement
  • Ability to travel 10%

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, liberal arts, or social sciences
  • 7+ years of communications or related experience
  • Experience in public policy, public affairs, crisis communications or issues management
  • Experience creating messaging materials, and working collaboratively with cross-functional groups including Legal, Public Policy, Marketing, and Research
  • Experience working under deadlines

  • Experience distilling complex policy or technology concepts into plain language
  • Experience having media relationships with a wide range of reporters and bloggers
  • Experience managing cross-functional stakeholder relations in fast-paced and ambiguous environments
  • Experience developing outreach programs
  • PR Agency or in-house experience preferred
