CitizenNet, a social data and marketing platform, which utilizes machine learning and artificial intelligence to put the right content, offer or advertisement in front of the right person at the right time is based in Los Angeles, CA and is led by CEO Dan Benyamin. The CitizenNet team is based in Los Angeles. Condé Nast’s acquisition in February 2017 of CitizenNet deepens Condé Nast’s data science talent and expertise and will be incorporated into Condé Nast’s proprietary data product “Condé Nast Spire,” to expand the audience targeting and data capabilities of Condé Nast beyond the company’s owned and operated properties to social platforms.

Job Description

Overview/Purpose

You will work with our development team to build out a world class marketing platform.  CitizenNet is laser focused on building innovative solutions to the variety of needs publishers and marketers have, and you will play a key role in realizing those solutions.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Helping to design, implement, and maintain a broad set of innovative features

  • Working closely with product and design teams

  • Performing code reviews

  • Elevating quality of engineering work

  • Collaborating with engineering teams across Condé Nast

Desired Skills and Qualifications

  • Experienced in functional programming languages, e.g. Purescript, Haskell

  • At least 2 years of relevant work experience building large-scale and complex applications

  • Firm grasp on full-stack development

  • Ability to contribute and listen to others on the team

  • Strong desire to stay on the cutting edge of your technology stack

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Commitment to delivering great software and releasing it quickly, efficiently, and with increasing quality

Project Information

  • Full-stack Purescript application

  • The client is built on Halogen framework using Ocelot component library

  • Use of Handle/Service pattern for IO (similar to tagless final, but using concrete records instead of typeclasses)

  • Layered architecture with clear separation of business logic and side effects

  • Domain-driven design, CQRS, and event sourcing are used for data design, communication, and persistence

  • Continuous integration and deployment workflow
