PAX Labs is looking for a Plastics Manufacturing Engineer who will be responsible for partnering with design engineering to bring new PAX products to market in an outsourced manufacturing environment.  In this position, you will deliver technical expertise to our contract manufacturing partners, work to improve quality and solve maintenance-of-line issues, and drive cost reduction initiatives. 

As the PAX Plastics Manufacturing Engineer, you will:

  • Drive technical validation and operation implementation of product design changes; work with Sustaining Engineers to implement changes at our CM’s (contract manufacturers) through ECR/ECO process
  • Define and drive product cost reduction initiatives
  • Provide product technical expertise and support to CM partners
  • Define and lead process and yield improvement initiatives
  • Work with NPI Engineer and Product Development engineers to support launch of new products
  • Work with CM’s to lead manufacturing projects:
    • Validate test implementation, new test equipment, new assembly equipment, new assembly lines
    • Create and release manufacturing process instructions
    • Drive First Article (FAI) and CPK processes for qualification of piece parts
    • Troubleshoot issues with assembly line and piece part suppliers
  • Partner with engineering staff to define and implement detailed DFX guidelines and processes
  • Work with Failure Analysis team to identify and resolve process related product failures


  • 3-5 years of experience working in or supporting an outsourced manufacturing environment
  • Experience with mechanical CAD design tools (Solidworks preferred) and knowledge of mechanical design best practices
  • Proficient electrical circuit analysis
  • Practical experience driving technical requirements for contract manufacturing operations
  • Practical experience working with piece part suppliers (plastics / elastomers, metal extrusions, sheet metal stamping, packaging, etc.)
  • Previous experience with medical devices or other regulated products is desirable
  • Proficient with statistical analysis and tools (Gauge R&R, SPC, etc.)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
  • Ability and flexibility to travel both domestically and internationally (Travel ~20%)
  • Ability and flexibility to lead and participate in phone meetings during weekday evenings
  • Speaking and writing Mandarin a plus
  • Analytic, detail-oriented, great quantitative analysis skills, self-motivation, able to proactively communicate with all employees and work well in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work effectively across all departments and levels within PAX


  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent work experience
