We are currently looking for a Senior Accountant Lead to join the Thales Avionics, a subsidiary of Thales USA team in Melbourne, FL.
The Senior Accountant Lead is responsible for Connectivity Solutions’ accounting and information used for financial reporting, accomplishing accounting and organization mission by completing related activities as needed, including oversight of other accountants’ work.
Responsible for assisting Accounting Director with over-all month-end close including accrual and adjustment Journal Entry preparation, account analysis, financial statement preparation, department variance analysis and corporate reporting as necessary
Responsible for maintaining SAP accounts. This will include accounting system maintenance, adding new accounts into the chart of accounts, mapping new accounts into the financial statements, reconciling sales subsidiary ledger to GL, etc.
General ledger account reconciliations, including preparation of reconciliations for Level C reconciliations and assistance/oversight of reconciliations of Level A & B reconciliations.
Support internal and external audit, including liaising between accounting staff and auditors, tracking and gathering auditor requests, answering auditor questions and working with Accounting Director to manager the overall audit requirements.
Provides financial status information by preparing special reports, financial analyses, and financial reports as required by Accounting Director and Executive Management; support all relevant Thales internal reporting requirements; Answers accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data; assist with preparation of financial statements as necessary.
Reconciles financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information.
Tax issue support, research, and analysis, including supporting Tax department requests, especially as relates to annual filing information and allocations,
Payroll related calculations to provide summary JE information to accountants for bi-weekly payroll, as well as bonus and PTO accruals.
Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential.
Supports accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data.
Assists in developing and implementing accounting procedures by analyzing current procedures; recommending changes.
Maintains accounting controls by following policies and procedures; complying with federal, state, and local financial legal requirements.
Acts as the liaison between Project Controllers and accounting regarding IFRS 15 regulations, calculations and reconciliations.
Skills and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting Required
10+ years financial reporting & accounting experience
Ability to act and operate independently with minimal daily direction from manager to accomplish objectives
Strong critical thinking and analytical aptitude
Ability to assign tasks and lead team to completion of assigned tasks
