What We’re Looking For:

The Content Marketing Copy Editor reviews content for our university partner programs and minisites, reading content for accuracy, clarity, organization, spelling, grammar and house style along with checking names, dates and statistics. The copy editor works closely with writers and other editors to revise projects, including feature stories, student profiles, infographics and commentary. The person in this role is expected to edit everything from tweets to academic research, always thinking about and debating the finer points of language usage, and will be reporting into the Content Manager. 

Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To:

  • Fact-checking, proofreading, and copy editing content (text, graphics, web copy) for grammar, style, and structure across a wide range of subject matters — including business, data and analytics, health care, education, government, law, mental health and communications. 
  • Efficiently process assignments and tickets with little direction, prioritizing live reviews and quick turnaround request.
  • Staying up-to-date with best practices for and styles for AP and branded copy, as well as compliance, SEO and accessibility protocols.
  • Updating and maintaining in-house style guidelines and copy workflows. 

Things That Should Be In Your Background:

  • Bachelor’s degree with coursework in journalism.
  • Two years experience copy editing in a deadline-driven environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of The Associated Press Stylebook and The Chicago Manual of Style.
  • Familiarity with Adobe InDesign and Adobe Illustrator.
  • Experience with content management systems.
