Job description In this role, you will write, rewrite and edit technical documents such as technical procedure manuals, user manuals, programming manuals, service manuals, operational specifications, and related technical publications to communicate clearly and effectively technical specifications and instructions to a wide range of audiences. You will acquire subject knowledge by working with engineers, observing performance of production methods, referring to technical specifications, blueprints, engineering illustrations, and trade journals. Additionally, you will oversee the preparation of illustrative materials, selecting drawings, sketches, diagrams and charts. Finally, you will conduct quality review of materials. This position may be filled at either the Technical Editor and Writer or Principal Technical Editor and Writer grade based on the qualifications listed below. Basic Qualifications for Technical Editor and Writer: 3 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree; 1 year of relevant experience with a Master's degree; an additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree Active DoD Top Secret and/or SCI and/or SAP Clearance Able to communicate effectively and clearly present technical approaches and findings Ability to travel up to 25% throughout the year, CONUS and/or OCONUS locations possible Basic Qualifications for Principal Technical Editor and Writer: 6 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree; 4 years of relevant experience with a Master's degree; an additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree Active DoD Top Secret and/or SCI and/or SAP Clearance Able to communicate effectively and clearly present technical approaches and findings Ability to travel up to 25% throughout the year, CONUS and/or OCONUS locations possible Preferred Qualifications: Experience/comfort with Teleworking in the near-term Experience in writing Test Plans and Test Reports Experience in writing Technical Orders and Training Materials General knowledge and application of concepts for industry practices, techniques, and standards Demonstrates the skill and ability to perform moderately complex professional tasks Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
