About the Team

Internal Audit is an independent, objective assurance and consulting activity designed to contribute and improve an organization's operations. As an integral part of Internal Audit, Fraud Risk and Investigation strives to protect Uber’s resources by auditing the management of fraud risk and investigating fraud, corruption and misconduct in the workplace. It is also responsible for independently and objectively assessing the fraud risk profile of the company globally and supporting management in developing, and enhancing anti-fraud activities to keep pace with the growth of the company.

 

About the Role

The Director is responsible for the stakeholder relationships with all those charged with fraud prevention, detection and correction over all geographical areas and all LOBs, and maintains effective leadership presence, partnership, expertise and contribution over fraud risks. The Director also:

INVESTIGATION

  • Leads all aspects of overall investigation intake and lead IA dedicated investigations Auditing and forensic accounting, conflict of interest, bribery and corruption etc…)
  • Collaborate and Coordinate with Cross Investigation teams
  • Participate to Uber-wide Investigation protocol and underlying processes continuous improvements
  • Maintain and enhance specifically the IA investigation approach by designing and implementing effective investigation practices, case management protocols, stakeholder engagement and consultation, reporting and analytics of IA and other cases to identify trends and opportunities for Fraud Risk management improvements in the Company

INTERNAL AUDIT

  • Develops and maintains an objective view of the fraud risk profile of the Company, identifies areas requiring deeper assessment, and plans and executes audit reviews or assessments accordingly
  • Performs advanced-level fraud risk management oversight.
  • Maintain an objective assessment of the effectiveness of Uber’s ethics reporting programs and related investigations functions and protocols through on-going monitoring or ad-hoc audits.
  • Provide strategic counsel to management in improving Fraud risk management 

 

What You’ll Do

GENERAL

  • Maintains all organizational and professional ethical standards, and ensures Internal Audit activities are carried out in compliance with The IIA’s International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing (Standards) and Internal Audit investigations are conducted in conformance with the CFE Code of Professional Conduct and the Company’s Internal Investigations Protocol 
  • Works independently under general direction with latitude for initiative and independent judgment.

 

Other essential duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Demonstrates mastery of Results leadership, and exercises very effective Self, Thought and People leadership
  • Assists the IA Senior Leadership Team with the management, planning, organizing, directing, and monitoring of IA operations, with a focus on effective resource and project management, and the coaching and development of IA team members
  • Identifies improvement opportunities and participates in the continuous enhancement of Internal Audit processes
  • Ensures operational excellence and the delivery of projects on time, on budget and at optimal quality; this includes establishing effective project plans, reviewing execution, ensuring the use of optimal methodologies, tools and techniques, and assisting professionals in removing roadblocks
  • Develops and maintains productive team-oriented stakeholder and staff relationships
  • Provides people leadership to Managers or Individual Contributors on the team
  • Pursues professional development opportunities, including external and internal training and professional association memberships, and shares information gained with co-workers
  • Represents Internal Audit on organizational project teams, at management meetings, local board meetings, and with external organizations
  • Performs work as assigned by the CAE

Basic Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in managing and handling investigation including auditing and forensic accounting related matters

Preferred Requirements

  • People management background with experience in leading and developing a team
  • Experience in developing and maintaining Fraud risk assessment 
  • Track record in assessing fraud risk management programs (e.g. Bribery and Corruption, Ethics and Compliance  etc…) or processes in order to reduce fraud risk 
  • Seasoned in developing a function and using Investigation insights to identify company processes presenting fraud risk
  • Excellent verbal and written communication with executive leaders and partners
  • Ability to listen but also to persuasively convey opinions and recommendations
  • CFE preferred and JD optional
