Responsibilities

We are looking for an experienced and motivated program manager to join the Content Operations and Excellence team which enables scale through process and tooling improvements. The person in this role will help us transform the technical writing, instructional design, and editorial disciplines as we know them today by modernizing how we ensure content health and quality at a global scale. Through tight operations management, structured problem solving, data-driven analysis, and technology, you will drive improvements to how we equip, support, measure, and hold accountable a distributed workforce of authors and experts who make and maintain Microsoft’s massive skilling content catalog on the docs.microsoft.com platform.

 

You must be obsessed with helping customers learn to unlock the full potential of Microsoft technology, passionate about the art of great technical writing and instructional design, and excited by the possibilities of turning that art into a science so we can unburden writers of mundane tasks and free them up to focus on work that requires their talent, skill, and judgement.

 

This role requires using a data-driven approach and cross-functional collaboration to drive efficiencies while improving quality and growing the size and reach of our technical documentation, interactive training, and solution guidance. You will need to be adept at interacting, communicating, and partnering with other teams as well as representing your team to executive management.

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Build and maintain visibility into our content development and content management operational processes (for example, customer reported defects, content maintenance velocity, content development throughput, and content quality).
  • Sponsor and facilitate activities that drive improvements to our operations, always treating the author experience like a customer experience, and balancing speed and quality.
  • Communicate plans and report on progress to varied audiences including stakeholders, operators, and senior leaders.
  • Continuously improve your own planning and execution cycles.
  • Partner with business owners, content developers, analytics and engineering teams to solve problems, innovate, implement solutions, and measure sustained performance and impact.
  • Prepare management reporting by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data trends and developing recommendations. 
  • Assist with business impact assessment of key improvement initiatives and programs, including building metrics and setting targets.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

 

  • 3+ years of process improvement, process implementation, systems development
  • 3+ years of operations program management and project management
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in any one of the three disciplines relevant to this role: writing and editing, operations research, engineering OR 3+ years equivalent work experience. 


Preferred Qualifications: 

 

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Lean methodology and Six Sigma.
  • Experience with a data-driven mindset and ability to experiment, learn, and improve.
  • Ability to build relationships across organizational boundaries.
  • Experience with change management with large workforces including ability to work with sponsors to remove barriers. 
  • Ability to make independent decisions, self-starter, ability to perform with minimal supervision.
  • Fun to work with, a positive attitude, customer empathy, and a passion for Microsoft technology.
  • Good organizational skills and an eye for detail
  • Ability to drive cross-group problem solving, customer advocacy and ability to apply creativity, critical thinking in a dynamic working environment across content and engineering.
  • A passion for identifying places we can improve coupled with communication skills to contribute to the broader organization.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and cross-group collaborative skills.
  • Embodies the values of growth mindset, diversity, and inclusion.
