We are currently looking for The Director of IVVQ to join Thales in Melbourne, FL.  The Director of IVVQ will provide the vision, leadership and management of the activities for the IVVQ team; be responsible for the completion of the set of IVVQ tasks resulting in system/software deliveries within the committed cost, schedule, performance and quality. Further, he/she needs to maintain efficient and effective testing with the incorporation of lessons learned, updating for continuous improvements, and enhancing the processes and be responsible for the skill set management and development of IVVQ staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates IVV resources.
  • Ensure IVVQ activity management within constraints provided by approved architecture and design policy.
  • Overall responsible for the IVVQ of all programs and platforms.
  • Identifies the required skills, allocates responsibilities to the various individual contributors and leads these contributors as a team.
  • Allocates the team members to each program to support the appropriate type of testing based on the product under test.
  • Schedules, coordinates and monitors the implementations of IVVQ tasks.
  • Ensures that appropriate attention is placed on tool development to support full test coverage.
  • Support the required bid and proposal activities. Properly identifies risks for the bids and projects ensure capital and material investments are also included.
  • In charge of tasks focused on preparing, defining, specifying, tooling, and performing the IVVQ activities.
  • Plan the headcount required to support the department with appropriate skill distribution.
  • Ensure appropriate data and documentation covering the full range of the IVVQ activities, including Test Modules and Test Reports, with full traceability to requirements.
  • Makes sure the human-machine interface specification (flight attendant, maintenance personnel, and passenger) are tested and results are quantified and documented.
  • Ensures that the engineering process document is kept up to date and modified when lessons learned are identified for incorporation.
  • Supports Continuous Improvement striving for lower cost of non-quality, better first pass yield, and on time delivery.
  • Creates and communicates the vision for the IVVQ Engineering department that supports IFE business objectives.
  • Establishes annual objectives that support IFE business objectives and foster professional development. Establishes and reinforces Engineering Key Values reflective of company values. Maintain high integrity, transparency and pro activity within the organization.
  • Supports IFE innovation objectives. Coordinates patents where deemed advantageous and necessary to protect Thales intellectual property.
  • Ensures communication with the SW and Platform teams is supported to ensure testing and lab facilities are continually supported.
  • Ensures that the department maintains and plans the appropriate resource and technical skill mix to support current and forecasted work in accordance with MYB . Maintains technical excellence and positive reputation of the group

Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field with 15+ years’ experience, or Master’s degree in field with 6+ years’ experience
  • 5+ years of experience leading a team
  • Good knowledge of systems development lifecycle.
  • Expertise in IVVQ principles, including functional testing, performance testing, stress testing, endurance testing, recovery testing, exploratory testing, etc.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Self-motivated, critical thinker with strong technical background.
  • Familiarity with SAFe Scaled Agile environment

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Experience in the aerospace and/or telecom industry
  • Minimum ten (10) years’ of experience in an engineering integration, verification or validation team
  • Understanding of software development methods and electrical/mechanical design
  • User Interfaces, Networking, SATCOM, and/or communication systems test experience
  • Software and/or Hardware development design experience
