Job Description

I. Job Summary | Major goals and objectives.

Provide desktop support for Macintosh and/or PC based computing environment for Meredith businesses. This includes installation and configuration of desktop computers and peripherals, software installation, problem diagnosis, problem resolution, and hardware/software training.

Solve desktop hardware and software technical problems with minimal assistance and coordinate with other IS&T support teams as necessary to follow a problem to completion.


Research, test and implement desktop technologies and software to meet customer needs.


Develop hardware and software training materials and provide customer training.


Assist in maintaining documentation, customer profiles, desktop inventories.


III. Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements | All must be met to be considered.


College Degree in Computer Science, MIS, or related area; or equivalent training and experience.


Minimum 3 years hands on experience with Macintosh and/or Pcs, operating systems, desktop computer configuration, common office automation applications (e.g. MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint), software installation, and familiarity with desktop peripheral devices including but not limited to modems, printers, cd-rom drives, and tape backup units.

Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

In depth knowledge of Macintosh and/or PC hardware, software, operating systems, configuration.

Software installation; hardware installation; desktop configuration; hardware diagnosis; problem solving; analytical ability; effective written and verbal communications skills; ability to interface with a wide range of personalities; work in a team environment; accurate key stroking; scheduling; time management, record keeping; promote customer satisfaction and ensure problem resolution.
