Job Description

I. Job Summary | Major goals and objectives.

The Audio Visual/Event Technician’s prime function is to provide AV support for digital signage, conference room meetings and live events for Meredith Corporation. The Technician will have a high degree of exposure, working with all levels, including executive management, as well as, a broad range of external clients.

The position requires a high level of professionalism, the ability to manage challenging and high-pressure situations, and to be accountable to all stakeholders for their delivery.

Accountabilities, Actions and Expected Measurable Results


  • Assistance with the delivery, installation, operation, and retrieval of audio/visual equipment for daily meetings and conference core events in the Des Moines office in accordance with the daily conference room schedule and high/urgent priority requests
  • Operation of the audio/visual systems integrated with video conferencing, phone conferencing, projection, audio/video recording and playback
  • Assistance with the coordination of audio/visual support for events held at Meredith locations, which may include interaction with clients, vendors, management, and other facility support staff
  • Operation of video cameras and other control room equipment including wireless microphones and video switchers to record and live stream programs and events; file conversions, media uploading and archiving as well as maintaining system documentation
  • Assistance with identifying, troubleshooting, and resolving A/V equipment and connectivity issues, both scheduled and ad-hoc in-room issues


  • Assistance with the implementation of new technologies, equipment, and cabling related to video conferencing and audio/visual services
  • Assistance with End User Training on room equipment best practices


  • Assistance in maintaining a thorough inventory of A/V equipment and supplies.
  • Monitoring the repair and replacement of non-working, damaged, and/or obsolete equipment and cabling

High School Diploma required. College degree preferred, or equivalent training or experience


Minimum 2 years experience in corporate AV/Support role. InfoComm CTS certification is a plus.

Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Excellent verbal, interpersonal, communication, organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills

Ability to set up, interconnect, and operate audio/visual equipment, including

LCD projectors and screens

Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
