Job Description:

You are:

The Group Manager position will be responsible for building and executing on a strategy in the middle market shipping, carrier and intermediary industries.  Knowledge of best practices in payment optimization and lending solutions, including managed services for clients (Bill Pay, E-Check,ACH, Card Solutions, etc.), Accounts Receivable, Inventory financing solutions including working capital lines of credit and invoice financing.

Individual will be expected to build a team and create an org. structure with RM/Business Development individuals with industry expertise in the Shipping, Carrier and Intermediary spaces.  Lead Individuals recruited in business development and sales management practices focused on prospect identification and go to market strategies.

Work with credit team to design appropriate middle and back office knowledge with recruiting and process around underwriting technology, portfolio monitoring, risk and compliance controls.

This individual will ensure the team is focused on growing existing Pitney Bowes relationships  while bringing in new relationships. The position will have responsibilities for four key areas: a) Business Development activities; b) Customer Segmentation and Profiling; c) Center of Influence development to increase referral activities; d) Partnership development with external and internal networks in an effort to expand the business. The position will focus on building relationships with companies generally in the middle market space with credit exposures up to $10,000,000.  The Group Manager will have direct influence over the credit decision process and must review financial information and trends for their team.

The Group Manager will also be responsible for overseeing the activities of RM’s on their team.  They will coach and ensure each team member meets all essential duties described below.  The individual will monitor each team member’s individual production and behaviors and as well as motivate the team toward their combined team goals.  The Group Manager will review their RM’s credit requests in early stage of the pipeline to ensure they meet credit requirements and can move to next level and monitor individual and team credit quality of the portfolio. 


You will:

  • Active involvement and timely completion of a structured and targeted Business Development model with targeted strategies within the Pitney Bowes client base as well as outside prospecting activities.  Segmenting of the prospects into industry categories, follow-up dates, prospect comment history, etc. is required and will be discussed with management on a regular basis.

  • Specific Customer Segmentation and On-Boarding activities as set by management with reporting.  Customer Segmentation will include regularly scheduled visits to clients on a weekly basis with profiles completed over time to develop stronger relationships that lead to a “Trusted Advisor”  status and resulting household and referral business.  On Boarding activity will involve monitoring scheduled contact within the first 90 days of any new relationship to include introduction of Senior Management and any relevant supporting team members.   

  • Develop a strong Center Of Influence network to generate high quality referrals.  This will include developing and leveraging the network of our existing clients with specific tactics as well as developing a core group of outside COI’s from networking in the shipping, carrier and intermediary segments.  

  • Actively refer business opportunities to internal partners, including those specifically related to smaller shipping product needs, mailing, working capital needs unrelated to focus area.

  • Understanding  of all credit products related to this space including working capital loans and lines of credit, invoice financing, payment solutions , etc.   

  • Prepare for regular “check-ins” with your manager with detailed reporting on the activities described above related to Business Development, Customer Segmentation and OnBoarding, COI Development, Internal Partnerships, Pipeline Reporting, etc. 

  • Work along with your assigned credit and risk management partners to monitor your assigned loan customers for payment and maturity past dues, future maturing loans,

  • Active management of Group Sales Meetings with sharing of success stories, difficulties, suggestions for improvements in the process that will benefit the group.

  • Active participation in pipeline meetings, with detailed knowledge of deals and ability to communicate status and updates effectively.

Your background:

  • Senior level experience managing teams in the Shipping, Logistics, and Intermediary industry payment and financing areas with 10 years experience.

  • Experience creating and executing on strategic planning related to the Shipping, Logistics and Intermediary industries.

  • Formal Credit Training preferred with 10+ years experience

  • College degree with 10 years relevant work experience.
