We are currently seeking Software Engineers who want to help develop the next generation of innovative networking technologies for mobile ad-hoc wireless communications systems. We are looking for software engineers with experience in physically-embodied Artificial Intelligence (AI). Domains of interest include RF systems, robotics and autonomous vehicles, cyber security, and manufacturing. Topics of interest include mission and route planning, scheduling, resource allocation, reasoning over uncertainty, distributed coordination, data fusion, game theory, and machine learning (ML) for signal characterization, anomaly detection, predictive trend monitoring and real-time reinforcement-learning-based network control.

This engineer will participate in collaborative teams of RF engineers, designing AI solutions to distributed, dynamic, complex control problems. The majority of our platforms are small embedded systems with hard-real time operating requirements that most operate in congested or contested spectrum. We are looking for creative individuals who can work effectively with people of very different skills and backgrounds, identify opportunities to insert innovative AI-based solutions, design the solution, and ensure successful implementation of real products.


  • Project contributor and/or lead for AI-related solutions to RF problems. Identify problems that are conducive to AI-based solutions, and justify how the AI-based solution will solve the problem more efficiently or more effectively than traditional approaches.
  • Formulate project plans with gated increments to demonstrate solution effectiveness, and develop test plans to validate solution using real-world data.
  • Design, code and test AI-based solutions to RF problems.
  • Contribute to proposal efforts, motivating the need for AI-based solutions and presenting the technical approach to addressing the challenge.




  • Practical experience with AI techniques for physical systems, such as RF, robots, factories, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
  • BSc in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or related fields, and 5+ years of related experience. Advanced degrees preferred.
  • Good communication skills, both written and oral.

Desired experience:

  • Practical experience with AI techniques for RF systems
  • Understanding of the practical limitations of hard real-time embedded devices in a communications-restricted domain, preferably with demonstrated implementation experience in C/C++
  • Familiarity with common AI/ML platforms, such as Tensorflow, Caffe, Weka, mlpack, Scikit-Learn, MATLAB, R
  • Ability to obtain security clearance
