Condé Nast is seeking a full-stack software engineer to work on the Global Commercial Platform. He/she will work closely with product, design and commercial stakeholders to build ad technologies that drive incremental revenue, and meet market needs. Our global technology team has offices in New York, London and India, and supports a network of over 200 million readers and subscribers worldwide.

About the Role:

  • You will be involved with high level design and architecture decisions as well as hands-on coding to build our next generation of Commercial ad products. 

  • Translate business needs and strategy into technical specifications & requirements.

  • Direct software team members and provide hands-on contributions to architecture, systems design, implementation, testing and deployment.

  • Map out development pathways to meet current and future opportunities in the rapidly changing online and streaming video advertising space.

  • You should be someone who values code quality and delivering outcomes. As a seasoned Engineer you will be a subject matter expert in one of the following areas: distributed systems, marketplaces, frontend development, backend development or ad tech. While we don’t expect you to be an expert in all areas, we do expect that you have enough experience to debug production issues, lead technical designs and implement new features.

About You - Required skills/experience:

  • BA/BS or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • You’re a software engineer with 5-10 years of experience.

  • Expert knowledge of JavaScript and Node.js, good understanding of ES6, React.js and JavaScript testing frameworks (such as Jest, Mocha etc.)

  • Some experience with Python, Presto, and SQL.

  • Professional experience using source control: Git, GitHub

  • High level competency designing, implementing, and testing systems that interact using Google Ad Manager, VAST, VPAID, DSP, SSP for high availability ad serving and measurement.

  • Good understanding of Cloud Native architecture - Docker, AWS, CI/CD.

  • You try to make the codebase nicer for the next person that visits it.

  • You are someone who will own every step of the development process; from refining tickets to shipping the code to production.

  • You’ll do your best, and ask for help when it’s needed.

  • You can communicate through a variety of media (Slack, video, email, and in person) effectively, being able to discuss complex technical topics using clear, understandable language. 

  • Able to effectively communicate technical concepts to different audiences

  • Business proficiency in spoken and written English

  • Experience working with international teams across multiple time-zones

About you - Desirable skills/experience:

  • Experience in digital advertising

  • Familiarity with technical aspects of programmatic digital advertising including industry standards and best practices

  • Experience working with international teams across multiple time-zones

  • Mentoring and/or management experience

  • Experience and/or interest in working with digital advertising

  • Experience and/or interest in working in publishing

  • Proficiency working with a variety of third party APIs and developer tools

  • Lead complex technical or product efforts involving many engineers

  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to peers

  • Analyze and optimize code for quality, efficiency, and performance
