As a Product Design Engineering Manager on the Smart Glasses Hardware team, you will demonstrate fundamentals and capabilities in mechanical engineering and product design of complex, highly integrated small form factor systems. This is a hands-on role where you will be intimately involved in the engineering execution and leading a multi-disciplinary team of engineers in architecting, designing and delivering the next generation of smart glasses and accessories in Meta product roadmap.

Manager, Product Design Engineering Responsibilities:
  • You will be responsible for the intake of requirements from researchers, engineers, ID, and product managers.
  • You will manage program schedules, identify risks and associated mitigation plans, and clearly communicate to program stakeholders.
  • You will be the liaison between researchers, mechanical, electrical, software, systems engineers, not to mention a wide range of cross functional partners, and you will assist with determining project priorities and feasibility.
  • You will be responsible for people management as well as helping provide technical guidance on projects that are under their purview.
  • You will contribute to shaping and helping develop a larger culture of collaboration and teamwork.
  • Manage project meetings, schedules, milestones and delivery.
  • Design, simulate, prototype, and test complex systems which combine electronics, mechanical parts, optics and software.


Minimum Qualifications:
  • 10+ years of experience as a hardware leader working with complex electro-mechanical products and systems.
  • 3+ years experience managing mid-size teams with at least 3 or more direct reports.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in product development and building technology & complex system development.
  • Experience with cameras, displays, batteries, audio, and sensors.
  • Technical background in CAD.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with embedded computing and wearable devices.
  • Experience in R&D and shipping consumer electronic hardware.
  • Experience with 3D design modeling and physical prototyping.
  • Experience integrating RF technologies such as WIFI, BT, and GPS.
  • Experience leading and driving mechanical design from concept, through design for manufacture, assembly, and test.
  • Experience in working with JDM partners in the design, manufacture, testing and delivery of next generation hardware solutions.
