How does PowerToFly work?

PowerToFly is a community for women, trans, gender non-conforming and non-binary people to elevate their careers by gaining access to companies creating the diverse and inclusive environments where we all belong.  In addition to connecting you with hiring managers, we aim to close gender gaps in tech and across digital, through events with company executives, training webinars, ebooks and access to our talent management team that may give on-the-spot coaching for selected candidates.

Tell me more about the clients you work with.

Our clients are mainly Fortune 50 to 1000 companies, as well as some fast-growing startups like Buzzfeed and Casper, who have recognized our pledge to create more inclusive environments. These companies are on PowerToFly with the intention to not only hire more women, trans gender, non-conforming and non-binary people, but to create the environments where we all belong.  Our team at PowerToFly often advises partner companies on how to be more inclusive.  We can’t guarantee that our partner companies are perfect for us yet (women, trans and gender non-conforming and non-binary people), but we can say they are committed to improving. I’m not in tech. Will I find a job through PowerToFly?

Yes, absolutely! We’re working with companies to fill roles beyond tech and we’re offering programing that runs the gamut for elevating your career. As an example, check out a webinar we recently did with Dell to find remote sales leaders.  You can also read about an event we did with Casper on how women can improve their workplaces. We welcome all women, trans and gender non-conforming and non-binary people who are looking to elevate their careers.

Do you have a position available for me now?
Does PowerToFly charge members any fees?

No, we currently don’t charge members of the community any fees for using the site or attending events. We may, on a case by case basis charge for a webinar or event, but that will be in specific circumstances where we will ask for payment before you register for the particular event. The use of the site is free and so is connecting you with our partner companies and other members of our community.

I’m not looking for a job, can I still join?

Yes! We’re a community where we value all members, even if they’re not currently searching for a new role. When you sign up and create a profile, you’ll see the option to become a Community Member as a well as Regular Member profile. Community Members get all the benefits of the platform, but they are hidden from hiring managers at our partner companies. A Community Member profile is a good option for someone who wants to connect with other members of our community and take advantage of our offerings, but who is also worried their company might question why they are on a site like PowerToFly.  If you decide to become a Regular Member, you can easily switch by clicking “Enable Job Opportunities” on the top right corner of your profile page. Once you do that, companies will be able to contact you with job opportunities.  Alternatively, you can switch this feature off if you decide you want to just be a Community Member again.

I got a message through PowerToFly from a company. What does that mean?

First of all congratulations! If you’ve been messaged by a company, then it means our collective mission to change gender ratios is inching forward. There are three ways a company can contact you via PowerToFly: if you apply to that company through a profile that you created with your personal information on PowerToFly; if a company found you through the profile you created with your personal information on PowerToFly; or if you’re data is publically available and matches who a hiring manager is looking for. If you fall into the third category, we’ve pre-filled a profile only with publically available data to alert companies that you could be a potential candidate for their open roles.  Once contacted by a company, we encourage you to build out your shell profile beyond the public data we have used.  You can do that easily by logging into PowerToFly. If you want us to take down your profile with your already public data, then email us at hi@powertofly.com.  We will take action as soon as possible, depending on when receive your request. Our mission is to change gender ratios across major companies that are creating diverse and inclusive environments for us to thrive in. To do that, we are eliminating excuses about being able to find women for roles.  Connecting them to your publicly available data gets everyone one-step closer to fulfilling the mission.

Who is allowed to attend PowerToFly’s events? Are there restrictions?

All community members are welcome to attend PowerToFly events regardless of race, color, religion, national origin, gender identity, pregnancy, physical or mental disability, or age. If you require accommodation to fully participate in one of our events, please email talentgrowth@powertofly.com, and we will contact you to discuss your specific needs.

Unfortunately, PowerToFly and the company it is holding an event on behalf of cannot admit outside recruiters to that particular event. Please email talentgrowth@powertofly.com if you have any questions about this policy.
