More Life: Exploring Health & Wellness in the Black Community
At Nike, our employee networks unite our global family and drive passionate, productive conversation and tangible action. To that end, NIKE, Inc.’s Black Employee Network (BEN) is leading Black History Month Celebrations throughout February with events and programming that explore health and wellness in the Black community. The theme, "More Life," draws from a popular Jamaican expression meaning to live a better, more successful and longer life.
“Health and wellness are important, nuanced topics today for all of our Nike teammates," says Michele Jordan, Director, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Education and Program Manager and Co-Chair of BEN. "Our community, like Black America, is dealing with all that it means to be healthy.”
From a discussion on mental health with Broadway actor Jeremy Pope to conversations about the environmental impact on wellness, the month of programming is full of moments for Nike employees to reflect on the intersection of health and racial identity.
