The accounting department ensures the timely and accurate delivery of financial statements through managing an array of accounting processes including the month-end financial statement close, payroll, accounts payable, tax and audit compliance, designing and maintaining accounting policies, and implementing financial controls. The department strives to promote company values by continually evolving department efficiency and procedures through automation, by taking action to minimize MINDBODY’s environmental impact through minimal use of paper, and by serving employees, management, and vendors in a humble and helpful manner.

The Senior Accountant will provide experienced hands-on accounting operational leadership for our company. This position supports the accounting functions of the business, assists in maintaining timely and accurate financial reporting, supports adequacy of internal controls, and supports reporting to finance, accounting, and management. The successful candidate will be able to apply technical accounting knowledge and analytical skills to contribute to a dynamic, first class, highly scalable and efficient accounting team for a hyper-growth, high-tech company.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Minimum three to five years of progressively responsible experience in GAAP and general ledger accounting. Knowledge and understanding of US GAAP
  • Proficient in NetSuite or equivalent ERP applications.
  • Advanced experience with Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Must work collaboratively and possess a strong work ethic.
  • Track record of identifying inefficiencies and developing solutions to improve processes.
  • Able to work independently in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
  • Big four accounting experience and CPA certification is a plus.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage critical accounting processes for the department including but not limited:
    • Revenue recognition – projections, reserves, etc.
    • Inventory
    • Expense reporting
    • Technical accounting
    • Vertical and regional reporting
  • Perform a leadership role in the department, providing support and guidance to the staff accountants, accounts payable, and billing teams
  • Perform general accounting functions including preparation and review of journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, sub-ledger reconciliations including accounts payable, accounts receivable and fixed assets.
  • Assist in preparation of internal financial statements and reporting and preparation of other external compliance filings such as annual reports.
  • Work closely with the assistant controller and other department leaders on key initiatives and projects
  • Liaise between staff accountants and accounting management, serving to enforce and monitor compliance with company-wide accounting policies and procedures.
