Position Overview:

The Novelis North America Controllership team is looking for an Sr. Accountant. This position will be responsible for timely and accurate monthly closings, balance sheet account reconciliations and adherence to internal controls for the relevant accounting areas in the North America Region.


Manage the monthly close process with the various locations and ensures the assigned activity is recorded and reconciled timely to the general ledger. Ensure all transactions are posted accurately and timely.

Ensure the assigned asset activity is in compliance with US GAAP and IFRS and that all internal controls are accurately maintained.

Complete quarterly reporting and assist with the completion of the quarterly audits/reviews; Understand major transactions during the quarter.

Review results and explain fluctuations over quarter, year and time periods as required. Work with the locations / plant controllers to understand changes and ensure completion of requirements for quarterly reporting.

Ensure the assigned activity is accurately reconciled. Complete all account reconciliations on a timely basis.

Drive improvements and build efficiencies into processes by working closely with the locations and the system support team. Work proactively on identified shortfalls on current processes and leverage the system to close the gaps.


5-7 years in similar role in a multi-national, matrix organization

SAP or Oracle Experience required, experience with both preferred

Manufacturing accounting experience preferred

Internal/External audit experience preferred

G/L experience preferred

Reliable and accurate working style, advanced Excel skills, team player, highly analytical and intellectually curious, proactive problem-solver, works well with limited direction and with ambiguity, excellent written and verbal communication skills, results-oriented, and comfortable working in a dynamic environment requiring multi-tasking, stakeholder management, and strong end-to-end process knowledge.
