Priceline is looking for a Director of Data Science to be a key member of our center of excellence for pricing. This role is part of our business organization, and will interact with Priceline’s Data, Product, Technology, Marketing and other related business teams. Specifically, the person in this role will be responsible for building a machine assisted pricing platform by leveraging advanced analytics, statistical, econometrics, and quantitative models to drive business value while striving to serve the company’s mission to be the best travel deal maker in the world.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate closely with team members, cross-functional stakeholders, and senior management to help develop pricing models and make business critical pricing decisions
  • Research initiatives in the context of demand forecasting, price elasticity modeling, and price/network optimization.
  • Lead a team of data scientists and business analysts
  • Leverage data analyses, modeling, and visualization tools such as R and/or Python, Jupyter, Oracle SQL, MySQL, Hadoop, Tableau, CPLEX and others.
  • Build model prototypes to demonstrate benefits from proposed changes to the decision systems and operational processes.
  • Devise testing methods to determine the best model to deploy to production, and devise monitoring strategies for ongoing model performance.
  • Present technical aspects of model development and monitoring to non-technical audiences and business stakeholders.

Requirements:

  • 7+ years of progressive experience and a proven leader having managed Data Science / analytics teams previously
  • Hands on experience in building and deploying statistical or econometrics models to production on a consumer platform.
  • PHD or Masters degree in a quantitative or computational field (ie, Math, Statistics, Computer Science or Physics )
  • Knowledge of Big Data packages a plus, Hadoop, Spark, Hive or others
  • Formulate and solve optimization problems using CPLEX, Gurobi, or other optimizers.
  • Experience with ML computing on premise or cloud platforms like AWS or Google Cloud or Microsoft Azure
  • Proficiency in a programming language used for data analysis (R/Python), query knowledge (SQL) and have experience with data warehousing systems like Amazon Redshift, Snowflake, BigQuery.
  • Sound verbal and written skills to effectively interact with both technical as well as non-technical audiences.
  • Display high energy and drive
  • Any Experience with Anaconda, DataRobot, H2O, TensorFlow/Keras/PyTorch, cloud computing a plus
  • Knowledge of Pricing or experience of working in Travel & Hospitality a plus
