About Enterprise Trust Team

Atlassian's mission is to get cloud-ready for every customer. As part of that vision, we want our SaaS offerings to be ready and widely adopted by enterprise customers. Enterprise customers make up the majority of our paid users and revenue. Our goal of 100 million MAU requires mass adoption of our products by knowledge workers, which means mass adoption of our products by enterprises. Over the last three years, the Enterprise Trust team has laid the foundation to support enterprise customers with new offerings. In the next three years, we want to accelerate that adoption further to make our cloud-ready for every customer a reality.

About Enterprise Data Portability

Enterprise customers consider the capability to move large amounts of data within and outside their cloud site as an important functionality for getting ready to use Atlassian's cloud offerings. Data portability today consists of different mechanisms and customer-facing features that allow customers to manage their data in the form of cloud-to-cloud offerings, backup & restore, and other import/export capabilities. It is a crucial part of our enterprise cloud readiness story and continues to be one of the top asks for cloud adoption.

With this program, we are trying to unify the platform and experience for the customers to guide them through the journey regarding what tools to use and when. It also encompasses providing a centralized data portability platform built on streaming architecture that can provide a skeleton to different feature teams in respective cloud products to easily integrate with the capabilities.

About Data Residency (Team DREAM)

Data residency gives customers control over where their in-scope product data for Jira Software, Jira Service Management, Jira work management, and Confluence are hosted. It allows them to choose whether it's globally distributed or held in place in a defined geographic location, such as Europe or the US, or Australia. We currently have support for the US, Central Europe, Australia, and Germany. The Data residency team is driving more region support with velocity and more products.

Data residency also owns app migration for our marketplace ecosystem partners. We are enabling our customers to pin their app data to the location where the product is pinned. This has to be done in a separate migration window other than the product that the user can select from AdminHub while scheduling the migration. We will only be offering data residency for connect apps for Jira and Confluence right now and have the scope to expand it to forge apps across data portability pillars like C2C, BRIE, etc.

Role

As a Principal Engineer, you are expected to play a deep engineer role in the Data residency team. You'll work closely with other architects, and senior architects across various teams including feature teams, and underlying platform teams like SCAP(shard capacity management), CP(Cloud provisioners), Media, etc, and be able to debate and brainstorm with them on the right engineering way to build things and ship value for the customers fast.

You'll be a hands-on engineer and will be accountable for both front-end and back-end-related technical challenges.

Your greatest responsibility is to be a tech SME for the team and own establishing engineering best practices around engineering excellence + operational excellence, engineering innovation, architecture reviews, etc thus uplifting the entire team's engineering quotient with your guidance and expertise. The buck stops at you, for everything engineering!!

You will have a lot of autonomy and accountability and a team of brilliant engineers to support you in this journey. You will be needed to navigate with ease between shipping codes and look at things holistically from an overall engineering perspective.
