Position Summary:
This position is responsible for providing administration and support for a complex distributed Microsoft Exchange e-mail environment. The responsibilities include providing system monitoring and administration, software upgrades, and implementation of modern technologies. The Senior Site Reliability Engineer Messaging Administrator will provide support for all messaging related architecture. Individual should also be well versed in other aspects of Microsoft Exchange administration including PowerShell scripting, Android and Apple mobile devices, SAN/NAS, server hardware, server monitoring tools and procedures, and web technologies.
Major Responsibility:
- Perform off-hours on-call duties in support of the messaging environment as part of a rotating schedule
- Installation/configuration of Microsoft Exchange 2016/2019, including implementation/management of server roles and high availability design
- Serve as an escalation point in the identification and problem resolution of complex messaging/application issues pertaining to Outlook connectivity, OWA, ActiveSync, Autodiscover, EWS, SMTP routing and spam filtering
- Develop and implement technical documentation and operational procedures to support the environment
- Responsible for maintaining/deploying server service packs and ensure Microsoft patch compliance
- Verify all messaging systems are compliant with corporate data retention policy standards
- Present plan supporting recommendations to improve the messaging environment via infrastructure upgrades or consolidation of services based on analysis of all systems and services
- Maintain security configurations and provide responses to internal and external audits
- Respond to escalated support requests pertaining to user, workspace, and channel issues within Slack
Required Skills/Knowledge:
- At least 10 years of work experience in information systems in positions of senior technical leadership having provided guidance on disaster recovery, architecture design, migrations, implementation, and support
- In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Linux platforms, and network protocols
- Experience in Server Consolidation, Backup and Recovery, and associated best practices for implementation
- Proficiency with the implementation and support of automated system monitoring tools
- Experience with Slack administration including supporting migration of workspaces, configuration of organization settings/policies and review of application integrations

- Ability to communicate technical and non-technical information effectively with individuals at all levels of responsibility and authority
- Effective time management skills with demonstrated ability to prioritize project work, daily operational tasks, and support requests
- Client software experience including Microsoft Visio, Microsoft Project, and other Microsoft Office suite products
- Ability to work independently or in a group and communicate progress/problems to appropriate personnel effectively
- Detailed technical expertise in Microsoft Outlook, Exchange 2016/2019 administration, high availability design/failover, ActiveSync, supporting Android and IOS, EMC Clariion/VNX SAN technologies, and Windows 2016 Architecture
- Proficiency with PowerShell scripting including working with .NET objects and EWS API
- Experience with Exchange 2016/2019 architecture design and administration
- Knowledge of Proofpoint's Secure Email Gateway a plus
- Experience with Microsoft 365 Exchange Online administration, Hybrid deployment and on-premises to cloud migration
- Knowledge of eDiscovery
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical field
