Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of program management experience.
  • Experience in driving automation, infrastructure or data center programs in a technical organization.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or similar field.
  • 10 years of co-location and large scale operational data center experience.
  • Experience with operations and third party colocation environments.
  • Ability to influence across a broad, cross-functional organization.
  • Excellent analytical, quantitative and presentation skills.

As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you lead complex, multi-disciplinary engineering projects using your engineering expertise. You plan requirements with internal customers and usher projects through the entire project lifecycle. This includes managing project schedules, identifying risks and clearly communicating them to project stakeholders. You're equally at home explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical trade-offs in product development with engineers.

The Data Center Deployments (DCD) team manages data center deployment projects, including data center and mini-cluster turn ups, turndowns, expansions and refactors, along with new technology pilots. As a Data Center Deployments Technical Program Manager, you will oversee major deployment programs while working with partner groups to create and achieve strategic business goals. Your objective will be to organize the overall team, establish clear roles and responsibilities, and create a high-level workflow plan while developing and managing the master schedule. In this role, you will manage objectives and influence teams without direct authority, while gaining support and maintaining schedule velocity. You'll also leverage project and technical leadership, demonstrated by your background and engineering mindset. You will be comfortable in ambiguity and an advocate for improving program efficiency and finding ways to scale the team.

Responsibilities
  • Drive a number of network infrastructure programs, most occurring simultaneously, to completion.
  • Dig into technical issues revolving around network port capacity, physical cabling installation, network equipment capacity, project scheduling, and logistics.
  • Bring technical experts together in order to communicate and help craft solutions. Manage and grow relationships between cross-functional teams.
  • ​Identify process and communications breakdowns, while developing and driving solutions to remedy the issues.
  • Manage process development and iterative optimizations. Create and maintain master schedules, budgets, bill of materials (BoMs), and related factors.
