Twisted Pixel Games is seeking a highly motivated and talented Lead Environment Artist who can help produce and guide the creation of game environments and levels. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, a team-oriented, collaborative approach to development, and is interested in doing what it takes to make the best games possible.

Lead Environment Artist - Twisted Pixel Games Responsibilities:
  • Create high quality Environment Art for game levels that fits the style and performance requirements for each unique project.
  • Organize and prioritize workloads for the Environment team according to the needs of the project.
  • Coordinate with Designers, Animators, and others on the Development Team, to implement complex dynamic game sequences.
  • Work closely with Project Directors and the Environment Art team to ensure the highest quality assets are delivered, and gameplay goals of a level are reached according to schedule.
  • Employ creative technical problem solving skills to achieve unique and dynamic visual goals.
  • Contribute to establishing the overall look and quality bar for art production assets, as well as adhering to any predetermined art styles.
  • Share in responsibility of mentoring other artists, giving feedback, as well as acting on feedback received.
  • Contribute to other other aspects of the project as needed such as props, collision, material creation, environment art rigging, 3d ui art creation, art production workflow improvements, and play testing.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Experience in the game industry as a Lead, Principle (or similarly titled) Environment Artist with published console/PC titles.
  • Experience modeling and texturing environments using industry leading modeling software such as Maya and/or 3ds Max, ZBrush/Mudbox, Substance Painter, and Photoshop.
  • Organizational experience with managing art teams, art pipelines, setting priorities and meeting deadlines.
  • Proven experience adapting to execute new styles (realistic and stylized) for each project as needed.
  • Experience planning and executing on challenging technical art tasks.
  • Demonstrated time management skills to handle large workloads efficiently, as well as provide accurate estimates for completion.
  • Must be a team player who communicates well with team members and strives to collaborate to create the best possible results.
  • Experience with current generation game engines like Unreal, Radiant or Unity or similar.
  • Portfolio that demonstrates quality, range, and large scale environment art development.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Proven history and experience as a primary art contributor to large game environments, including organic and hard-surface assets.
  • Experience “grey boxing” environments from scratch, and fleshing out designer blockout levels with and without concept.
  • Experience with Substance Designer.
  • Experience with current generation lighting and shading engines.
  • Experience developing VR game titles.
  • Experience Rigging Environment/Prop Assets for Animation.
  • Interest for all types of games.
