About the Role: Grade Level (for internal use):11 S&P Global Corporate  The Role: Lead DevOps Engineer   The Team:   Developer Experience Engineering, DTS     What’s in it for you:  As a Lead Developer Experience Engineer, you will be leading the Enterprise DevOps Tools and cascading best practices for these. You will get to work with Senior Executives and stakeholders from various business groups and divisions. You will get to explore and work on best in class tools and technologies and will be at the forefront of leading innovation in this space.   Responsibilities  A Developer Experience Engineer (DX Engineer) leveraging AI Copilot tools would engage in various activities to enhance the developer experience using a standard DevOps toolchain and artificial intelligence (AI) assistance. Here's an overview of what might be involved in their day-to-day operations: 
  • Manage Enterprise DevOps Tools and Setup Standard DevOps Toolchain: Design, develop, and maintain tools, frameworks, libraries, and infrastructure that streamline the Enterprise DevOps Tools as well as development process and improve productivity for other developers. 
  • Rapid development patterns (Using low code + Gen AI): The DX Engineer would explore and experiment with AI Copilot tools into the developer workflow and IDEs (Integrated Development Environments) used within the organization to improve Developer Productivity and Experience. This involves setting up the necessary plugins, extensions, or APIs to enable seamless integration with existing development tools and processes. 
  • Performance Optimization: Identify performance bottlenecks and inefficiencies in developer workflows, tools, and implement solutions to improve performance and scalability. 
  • Tool chain best practices and trainings: Organize workshops, training sessions, and other educational events to help developers learn new technologies, best practices, and techniques for improving their development workflow. 
  • Developer Feedback and Iteration: Gather feedback from developers and use it to continuously iterate and improve developer tools, documentation, and processes. 
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with product managers, designers, quality assurance engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure that developer needs are considered throughout the product development lifecycle. 
  • Stay Current with Industry Trends: Stay up-to-date with the latest trends, tools, and technologies in software development and developer experience, and evaluate their potential impact on the organization. 
  • Leadership and Mentorship: Provide guidance, mentorship, and technical leadership to junior developers and other members of the developer experience team.  
  • Monitoring and Feedback Analysis: They would monitor the usage of DevOps and AI Copilot tools and analyze feedback from developers to identify areas for improvement. This includes tracking metrics such as code completion rates, accuracy of suggestions, and user satisfaction scores to assess the effectiveness of the AI Copilot and identify opportunities for enhancement. 
  • Continuous Improvement Initiatives: DX Engineers would lead or contribute to continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing the experience and performance of Developers. This will involve collaborating with Developers, Business stakeholders to develop and implement new extensions, features, or models that improve the overall workflow.  
  Overall, the day-to-day operations of a Developer Experience Engineer leveraging AI Copilot tools involve a combination of technical work, training, customization, monitoring, and collaboration aimed at enhancing the developer experience and driving productivity through a standard DevOps Toolchain and AI-powered assistance in the software development process.      What We’re Looking For:     REQUIRED SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS   
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.   
  • Experienced professional (8+ years experience) as full-stack engineer, architect, DevOps engineer with core hands-on experience.  
  • Experience in DevOps Tools like Azure DevOps, GitHub, Jenkins, SonarQube etc.  
  • Experience in Gen AI assisted high code development and prompt engineering using GitHub Copilot 
  • Experienced in developing Front-end technologies including JavaScript, CSS3 and HTML5 and third-party libraries such as React Js, Next.js, Angular, Node.js, jQuery, and LESS 
  • Experience with Container Management (i.e. Docker, Kubernetes), Micro Services, MFE, rest services 
  • Experience with Cloud-based technologies, specifically with AWS services, Data bricks 
  • Exposure to Python and Scala 
  • Experience working on Linux based infrastructure 
  • Excellent understanding of Ruby, Python, Perl, and Java 
  • Configuration and managing databases such as MySQL, Mongo 
  • Excellent troubleshooting 
  • Hands-on experience in designing and implementing scalable software solutions using cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) is highly desirable.  
  • Proven leadership and people management skills, with the ability to inspire and mentor a team.  
  • Excellent writing and communication skills. 
  • Excellent written & verbal communication and stakeholder management skills.   
  Nice to have: 
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt and learn new technologies and tools quickly especially in the space of Gen AI.  
  • Experience with the DevOps Tools:  Jenkins/Bitbucket/Github Enterprise, Docker, Terraform, Git, Linux etc.  
  • Experience with full-stack engineering development for deep learning and LLM solutions, and contributing to Github and open source initiatives or in research projects
