As a contract Data Analyst with Hearst Television you’ll have a focus on digital video and play a leading role in designing, building and managing reporting and insights solutions for key business stakeholders. We’re looking for a seasoned data analyst who can get up to speed quickly on our core news products as well as Very Local, our exciting OTT/CTV video streaming service.

Hearst TV owns and operates 33 television stations and two radio stations, reaching 21 million U.S. television households across 39 states. Our stations operate web and mobile platforms which reach 40 million unique visitors every month.

Job Details

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinating with the Analytics team lead to create customized reporting in Looker and other data visualization tools.
  • Communicating with product, development, content and other key business stakeholders to evaluate their data needs and business goals to deliver insightful reporting solutions.
  • Ad hoc analysis to support our business decision-making.
  • Working from a ticketing queue to fulfill data requests.

Knowledge:

  • Advanced experience with Looker, including writing custom LookML, configuring data connections and creating reports and dashboards.
  • Familiarity with other dashboard and reporting tools; e.g. PowerBI, Tableau or DOMO
  • Advanced experience with SQL, as well as general knowledge of database and datastore fundamentals. Experience with Google BigQuery preferred.
  • Familiarity with data ETL and similar pipelines, using APIs to retrieve data, and creating basic reporting automation flows.

Skills and Abilities:

  • A strong analytical mindset with a drive to perform self-initiated analysis to support multiple business initiatives.
  • A desire to devise and work with multiple teams to implement tracking and reporting strategy to support local television stations, sales and digital product teams
  • An ability to document technical analytics processes and share knowledge with team members.
  • Strong communication skills in English, both in writing and in spoken conversation to interact effectively and efficiently across teams to evaluate business needs and prioritize your work.

Experience:

  • 4-7 years experience in digital data analytics or related roles
  • Project or product management experience a plus

Education:

  • BS or higher degree in related data analysis, data science, statistics or engineering field preferred
