Position Overview: 

Join the revolution that is delivering the best audio experience in the world as a member of the team responsible for the delivery of product assembly for Sonos’ next generation speakers.  You are the owner of industrial engineering and lean manufacturing for all Sonos projects. The scope may include leading productivity improvements to meet targets, define productivity opportunities, to improve efficiency and reduce the waste in manufacturing. You are responsible for leading the engineers from contract manufacturers to design the layout, balance the machine and people operation, continuous improvement on the manufacturing systems and procedures. You will oversee the Value Stream Mapping and updating, and Lean projects implementation on site. You will co-work with process engineers to estimate the CT and HC on NPI projects and support related work stream activities in MFG team to realize smooth and safe launch of new products.

Success:

  • You are recognized by Sonos and Contract Manufacturer as the go to person for Lean manufacturing and Industrial engineering related matters .
  • You lead & drive continuous improvement projects/initiatives to realize better UPPH, higher productivity to meet cost saving targets, achieve on time delivery and better-quality performance.
  • You lead & drive the CM/JDM team on Lean implementation and follow up, identify continuous improvement opportunities which cover productivity, quality, safety, utilization, inventory, lead time, etc. Reporting Lean progress on a regular basis.
  • You are co-working with the Process team for Line development, UPPH improvement, layout review and follow up to optimize efficiency and eliminate process waste.
  • You are co-working with the operation team and PD team to ensure machine cycle time, takt time and people balance based on product requirement.
  • You support the engineering team on using Lean tools on layout design, production preparation, resource planning etc.  
  • You support the CM sourcing team for MVA calculation and improvements, verify MVA related metrics  from the manufacturer and identify improvements opportunities.Work with sourcing team and MFG engineering team for product “should cost” during the early stages of product development.

What it Takes:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, preferably Mechanical or Industrial Engineering, or equivalent with 5 plus years in industrial engineering experience and Lean, Six Sigma or Continuous Improvement skills.
  • Rich experience in Lean Manufacturing, and the background of green belt or black belt certification is preferred.
  • Rich experience in production line development techniques including flow chart, cycle time calculation, UPH setup, line layout & balance, SOP, MVA calculation etc.
  • Solid Industrial Engineering or manufacturing management skills / lean concept and tools.
  • Experience in realizing consumer electronics products in mass production which involves precision mechanical parts assembly and high cosmetic requirements.
  • Experienced in mechanical parts assembly technology, familiar with several of following manufacturing techniques: RTV glue, AB glue, CA glue, PSA, gasket, EM part Dip & soldering, heat stacking, USW, screwing, laser etch, package assembly, and related fixture and automation development would be a strong plus. 
  • Fluent in written and spoken Mandarin and English and able to communicate effectively in a global environment. 
  • Leadership experience is a plus. Project Lead, Team Lead, Technical Lead...etc.
  • Familiarity with the use of 3D mechanical design tools is a plus. Such as Pro-E, UG, NX or Catia etc.
  • Willingness to travel extensively in China, Southeast Asia and to the US.  
  • Having worked on acoustics products is a plus.
  • Passion for music is a strong plus!
