The AI and Advanced Architectures team is looking for a Principal Hardware Engineer to join us.  We innovate using a mix of algorithmic innovation, custom hardware, and framework-level software that interfaces to the hardware.  We're looking for someone experienced in application acceleration with FPGAs.  Candidates should have experience analyzing existing workloads to identify acceleration opportunities and then be able to architect and implement those accelerators.  

 

We are a cross-discipline team in the Azure Hardware Systems Group with a collaborative culture and a strong track record of delivering strategic impact to Microsoft.  We have a proven history with Project Brainwave of driving deployment of programmable hardware (FPGAs) to Microsoft data centers worldwide and we are looking to expand the scope of our impact. 

Responsibilities

Analyze workloads and identify kernels for acceleration. Design, develop and debug FPGA based hardware accelerators for a variety of workloads. Work with partner teams to ensure alignment of roadmaps and successful delivery of projects.  

Qualifications

Required Qualifications: 

  • B.S or higher in computer engineering, computer science, or related fields 
  • 5+ years' experience with Verilog and/or HLS. 
  • 5+ years C/C++ experience.

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Cross stack, hardware/software codesign experience highly desired.   
  • Strong communication skills and the desire to collaborate in a team of engineers.
