The Air Combat Test & Training (ACTT) Department within Mission Systems strives to improve training capability and realism so that U.S. warfighters and international partners can “train like you fight.” The ACTT engineering team develops state-of-the-art products for cryptographic, datalink, networking, and command and control applications supporting threat and weapon simulations. We specialize in the development and integration of high quality, highly secure, complex solutions for military communication systems, navigation systems, and networks to enable a Live, Virtual, and Constructive (LVC) training environment. We design and develop secure Air Combat Maneuvering Instrumentation (ACMI) systems and mature them from the concept phase through accreditation, factory production, and installation This position is located onsite in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Eligible for relocation.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Support the engineering effort to produce, test, troubleshoot, repair, and deliver air combat test and training hardware.

  • Update, markup, review, and release drawings and test procedures

  • Produce change orders, engineering change proposals, and waivers.

  • Investigate issues seen during production or acceptance test.

  • Work in a collaborative Agile development environment

Basic Qualifications:

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience, OR an Advanced Degree in a related field, OR in absence of a degree, 6 years of relevant experience.

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.

  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

  • Willing to travel up to 10%

Skills you must have:

  • Familiarity with engineering drawings or electrical schematics

  • Experience with the design or manufacture of complex Circuit Card Assemblies (CCAs) or Line Replaceable Units (LRUs)

  • Action-oriented problem solver

Skills we value:

  • Familiarity with military avionics and data buses

  • Experience with hands-on troubleshooting using engineering lab equipment

  • Strong critical thinking and analytical skills

  • Experience in an Agile development environment

  • Managing multiple competing tasks while balancing priorities

  • Preferred applicants will currently hold a DoD Secret (or above) security clearance, or have held one within the past two years.

The salary range for this role is 64,000 USD - 128,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
