Job Details
The Meta FRL Display and Optics team focuses on moving the state-of-art display and optical technologies forward for Meta AR/VR products, which gives people the power to build community and bring the world closer together. The team is responsible for technology development and maturation, component design, novel manufacturing processes and metrology development, and system integration of display and optics for all Meta AR/VR products. The VR Optical Engineering team is looking for experienced and highly self-motivated Optical Process engineers. The successful candidate will lead the development of manufacturing processes for the mass production of complex optical systems within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Optical Process Engineer Responsibilities:
- Work with cross function to define, develop and deploy new manufacturing technology for polarization and related optical components.
- Analyze manufacturability of the prototype designs and refine as necessary.
- Development support during the product design phase to provide input dealing with manufacturability needs (DFM) for optics and related components.
- Drive failure analyses (FA) and design of experiments (DOEs) to reach design solutions and corrective actions.
- Develop and optimize the process and equipment for device performance, yield, quality, reliability, and throughput, and ramp the new equipment/process into full mass production.
- Experience and knowledge of failure analysis (SEM, FIB, Tof-SIMs), and mechanical property characterization on coatings, polymers and films (e.g.: Tensile test, shear test, peeling test, swear test etc.)
- Laser cutting processing
- Experience in developing and manufacturing high volume display, automotive, or touch sensor components and products is preferred.
- Polarizers, retarders, liquid crystal polymer films, Backlight optical films, reflectors, AR films.
- Experience with hands-on development experience in film polarizers, retarders, liquid crystal polymer films, multi-layer soft-to-soft, soft-to-hard, hard-to-hard lamination, 3D thermoforming lamination, roll-to-roll processing, and laser processing.
