Instagram Design Studio is the heart and hand of how we express Instagram internally and externally. Our team creates and scales our brand systems through iconic product experiences, creative tools, environmental and artifact design, and cultural programming. We are focused on creative inspiration, cultural relevance and emerging technologies:As an Art Director, you will be involved in every aspect of the design and development process — from conceptualizing products and experiences, to directing and/or executing design and art assets, to supporting the development of technical capabilities that power products and experiences. The ideal candidate is an expert in their craft, can adapt to various creative styles and mediums, and has experience working with multi-disciplinary and cross-functional teams to deliver world-class products and strategic brand experiences. Art Director - Instagram Responsibilities:
- Concept and execute design strategies for products and brand experiences that are delightful, strategically impactful, and exhibit a high level of craft.
- Provide art direction for multi-disciplinary creative partners, including visual designers, 2D/3D artists, motion designers, and creative technologists.
- Work in collaboration with cross-functional partners, including engineers, data scientists, researchers, product managers, and product designers to define opportunities, develop concepts, and bring ideas to life.
- Create sketches, storyboards, prototypes, and/or design specs necessary to guide the development of art and products.
- Clearly articulate strategic thinking and design decisions.
- Independently and proactively identify strategic opportunities to bridge marketing and product brand experiences.
- Seek out opportunities to increase impact and/or efficiency of products and team.
- Give and solicit feedback from your design peers in service of building the best products.
- Work independently on multiple projects at a high caliber level, keep project timelines on track and show progress.
- 6+ years experience as an art director or designer leading product or brand experiences.
- Experience working in 2D/3D design software such as Adobe Creative Suite including After Effects, Cinema 4D, Zbrush, Rhino, and Figma.
- Understanding of technical challenges for creating mobile or real-time products and experiences.
- Effective understanding of product design, including strategy development, UX/UI design, and user research.
- Experience coordinating, directing, and guiding the work of other artists and designers.
- Presentation and communication skills.
- A link to an online portfolio showcasing relevant work.
- Experience working with prototyping software such as Origami Studio.
- Familiarity with real-time 3D engines like Unity or Unreal.
- Expertise in AR/VR/XR experiences.
