Job Description

Juniper Networks has an immediate opening for a collaborative, technically diverse and motivated Pre-sales Systems Engineering Specialist (SSE). The position reports directly to the Director of Systems Engineering, Americas Architecture and Specialists organization. This role provides pre-sales engineering, solution, architecture/design, and consultative support to Americas sales teams enabling the insertion of new and emerging SAS technologies specifically in areas of SD-WAN, Cloud and automated Security. The position blends technical hands-on, industry, software ecosystem and business expertise commensurate with SSE and architect capabilities stated for the organization. Successful outcomes and critical metrics include effective team and customer engagement, revenue growth (SA), domain expertise and personal development.

Daily accountabilities focus on architectural and multi-faceted solution support to Juniper account teams and broader SE community. The SSE collaborates with sales teams providing domain-aligned domain expertise (SME) at various points in the sales cycle to discover, qualify, accelerate and close revenue opportunities as prioritized by sales and SE leadership, Technology overviews, use case positioning, prescriptive demos, coordination of field PoCs and consultative engagements are key responsibilities

Area of focus also includes the development of standard methodologies, NPI, technology positioning, field/market advocacy and support and adoption of SE transformation initiatives as the market continues to evolve toward the cloud, microservice applications, and SDN networking.

The successful candidate will have familiarity and practical hands-on experience with data networking architectures; software/OS; virtualization/orchestration systems and concepts; aware of market trends and transitions; ability to work in a matrix environment and possess excellent communication, presentation and organization skills.

Balanced professional, technical and eye for business is fundamental.

Regional and Corporate travel (~30-40% and variable)

Primary Responsibilities

  • Expert level Pre-sales solution support for NPI, emerging and advanced technologies contributing to acceleration and achievement of Americas or assigned revenue targets
  • Sales team collaboration, technical qualification/use case, customer engagement
  • Identify successful outcome requirements for Deal Support Requests (DSR)
  • Assist in coordination and execution of prescriptive demos and field PoCs
  • Technical enablement initiatives and advanced training including technical overviews, SE demonstrations, events, webinars, and NPI workshop
  • Field advocacy and interlock with product line management (PLM) and engineering
  • Influence and mentoring of GTSE community through sharing of technical experiences
  • Personal development plan aligned to individual focus areas
  • DSR metrics and reporting

Qualifications

  • 5+ years industry experience in technology pre or post-sales support roles with a strong background in IP; virtualization (hypervisors/containers/software stacks); data networking architecture; Python/scripting, cloud concepts, and associated technologies
  • Execute pre-sales engineering and sales stage process including discovery; differentiation; demos; PoCs; validation and solution dependencies primarily within Enterprise market segments
  • Familiarity with current networking and business model trends, market dynamics and technological adjacencies (i.e. virtualization, software/OS, cloud services, open-source)
  • Outline plans to assess, prioritize, assign and lead technical workstreams to completion
  • Proven strong written, oral and presentation skills with the ability to discuss highly technical concepts to a variety of audiences, including executive-level technical decision-makers
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational and collaborative work skills
  • Minimum BS/BSE/EE degree in engineering/computer science or equivalent work experience in computing, software or network communications
