About the Position:

A Systems Engineer (SE) is a unique individual who combines the communications skills to build strong professional relationships with the technical skills to develop compelling network solutions that solve customers’ business issues.   The SE partners with an Account Manager to drive revenue growth for Juniper by delivering business success to our customers and partners.

This position will be on the Systems Engineering team supporting pre-sales activities in Routing/Switching infrastructure, Security, Telco Cloud, SDN, NFV, and Virtualization for Service Provider and Channel Businesses. Systems Engineers are a critical component of the Juniper sales team and have a primary responsibility to assist Juniper Account Managers with the technical sales activities in new and existing opportunities. Systems Engineers have in-depth, hands-on experience with Juniper's products and services as well as competitor's products and services, and can demonstrate solid internetworking, virtualization, and security skills to customers and business partners.  Systems Engineers assist with understanding customers' requirements, the design of Juniper solutions, delivering sales presentations, presenting technical information about products and services, conducting product demonstrations, installing product evaluations, presenting/training at seminars, and assisting with RFP and RFI responses.

Minimum Qualifications:

A successful candidate will meet all of these requirements:

  1. A demonstrated track record in technical sales to Telco, Carrier, and ISP customers
  2. 5-8+ years industry experience in multiple of the following technical domains
    • Service Provider routing
    • Large scale enterprise routing and switching
    • Data Center networking and Telco Cloud
    • Expert level and hands-on knowledge of TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, MPLS technologies (RSVP, LDP, L3VPN, L2VPN, and Segment Routing)
    • Expert level and hands-on knowledge of SDN environments including Overlay protocols and technologies such as VXLAN, EVPN, and other tunneling technologies
    • Virtualization, storage, x86 compute, orchestration, and other non-networking data center technologies
  3. Experience working in a pre-sales role selling networking equipment OR end-user experience in design / architecture / vendor selection
    • Ability to communicate, both oral and written, on complex technical and sales issues to a variety of audiences, including executive level technical decision-makers
    • Ability to make and communicate relevant connections between proposed technical solutions and customers' business requirements
    • Strong understanding and knowledge of how to build successful relationships between an equipment manufacturer and a channel partner or reseller
  4. In-depth understanding of product features, use cases, positioning, and configuration in many of the following products or product categories:
    • Juniper MX Series routers, Cisco ASR9000, CRS
    • Juniper EX or QFX switches, Cisco Nexus switches, or Arista switches
    • Open Networking switch hardware (white box) and related software (Cumulus, BigSwitch, Pica8)
    • OpenStack (RedHat, Mirantis, or Ubuntu) or VMware vSphere
    • Linux operating system knowledge including KVM
    • NFV concepts
    • Containers and container-related technologies, such as Docker and Kubernetes
    • SDN overlay technologies including Contrail Networking, Nuage, or NSX
    • Knowledge of merchant silicon technologies (Trident, Tomahawk, Jericho, etc.)
  5. JNCIE, CCIE, RHCE, or other expert-level industry certification is desired
  6. Formal or informal technical sales leadership or mentoring is desired

Other Information:

Travel requirements for the position - 50%.  This position will travel based on customer demand for sales activities
