powertofly approved What RebelMouse Has to Offer:

Simply put we know the CEO, Andrea, very very well. She is married to our cofounder, Milena Berry, and has helped us pioneer so many of the cultural principals at PowerToFly focused on helping people belong no matter their gender. Andrea has four kids, a strict work from home (or where you're most productive) policy, and she is one of the strongest entrepreneurs out there.

Andrea was formerly the CTO of Huffington Post (she was named Paul Berry then) and literally built the tech that propelled the company from a small blog to a powerhouse that was bought by AOL. She was also the CTO of AOL after the acquisition. Our other cofounder, Katharine Zaleski, got to work closely with Andrea when she was at Huffington Post too. It was a thrilling experience and Katharine continues to get advice from Andrea today. Join RebelMouse - you won't regret it! Oh and Andrea hires great people who we could write entire blogs about... but we have character limits on these pages :)

RebelMouse is a fully distributed company that thrives on agility and flexibility. We don't have an office, and we have talented, passionate employees in over 25 countries covering every time zone. Everyone on the team shares a passion for being able to think outside of the box and be fluid with their talents and skills. Developers who think about product and traffic, audience development specialists who think about product and editorial, and designers who think about traffic and code. If you don’t want to be tied to an office chair and like the idea of being able to work from any place, we embrace digital nomads.

Diversity matters a lot to us. Our founder and CEO Andrea Breanna is openly and proudly transgender, and has created a welcoming tech community for women and LGBTQ+ individuals that breaks industry standards. Click here to learn more about how RebelMouse is reimagining the modern workplace.

Here are some key items to consider:

  • Workflow and processes are one of the most important things in development
  • Certifications is the one of the most important things and I have them all
  • I like to join any technical discussions even those w/o real outcome for a product
  • I used to change companies a lot
  • I like tech-stack superiority wars, I always win (obviously)
  • I think I’m the smartest person in the company and everybody should be grateful for having a chance to work with me
  • I would put architecture in the first place above the product, common sense and everything else, period!
  • I find it very stressful when somebody touches my code
  • I like to write long emails describing my vision to everybody
  • I value boring but stable environment over the opportunity to grow
  • I don’t believe management can understand my vision that is why I gave up sharing it
  • Being small gear in an enterprise mechanism is what I like

For good or bad we don’t have any of these, here is what we have:

  • Environment of open minded people focused on solving real world problems
  • Team that values every member
  • “Complex over complicated”
  • Creating the best product possible that moves the needle and brings innovations to live
  • We proud of how we do things but even more about what we do
  • No finger pointing and blaming except for git blaming :)

Like what you read, we are happy to chat!

Exciting part:

Our product gives and opportunity to more than 100 enterprise clients to focus on things matters for them and not technology behind it!

To build and maintain the product we use:

  • Python
  • JavaScript (es6+), variety of frameworks as well as vanilla
  • Node.js

Our product is cloud-native and relies on services provided by AWS. We make sure that the platform is robust and reliable enough to cover the needs of every single customer. EC2, Kubernetes - sounds familiar? Then we’re good to go :)

  • Cloud-based infrastructure on AWS

    • Computational part EC2, EKS
    • Datastore RDS, S3, DocDB
  • Docker, Kubernetes + Istio, CI/CD pipelines for our shiny new micro-services architecture
  • Modern monitoring toolset using Prometheus and Grafana

Technical requirements:

  • Good grasp of functional and/or OOP design
  • Understanding networking (http, tcp etc., as well as async io)
  • Frontend and backend performance optimizations is a bonus, or at least if you’re instead interested in it
  • Positive attitude :)
