The executive communications director’s main goal is to support retail and consumer goods thought leadership internally and externally by developing and executing on a differentiated communications strategy across key industry stakeholders.  

 

This role requires someone who is highly motivated combining exceptional executive communication and storytelling skills, strategic thinking, project management, and excellent team member skills (down, across, and up.)  

 

The executive communications director will be responsible for ensuring a correct and consistent message is delivered to our field, partner ecosystem and customers in consultation and partnership with industry and product marketing, partner, readiness, field and engineering teams.  

  

Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute global RCG industry communications strategy including digital storytelling/strategy and build strategy recommendations based on customer insights and business interdependencies  
  • Build and manage executive platform including digital personal branding (LinkedIn and Twitter) aligned to strategic priorities of the worldwide RCG leader.  
  • Deliver senior executive level briefing materials, scripting/messaging for internal and external keynotes and presentations customer, partner and internal events. 
  • Partner with PR and analyst leads on briefings for media and analyst engagements 
  • Lead customer storytelling efforts partnering with readiness lead and industry marketing to create compelling and consistent customer storytelling assets  
  • Drive the requirement and selection process for agencies and day-to-day project management for agency work

                       

Qualifications
  • Master communicator with superb ability to translate technology solutions into business outcome driven communications.  
  • Business maturity with experience in working with senior business executives 
  • Exceptional writing and slide development skills 
  • Strong retail and/or consumer goods expertise to enable translation of business requirements into strategic field, partner and customer communications and messaging.  
  • Strong team orientation: build and nurture partnerships, collaborate and influence across multiple stakeholders in- and outside of Microsoft.  
  • Skilled at prioritization, creating order and marshalling resources towards achieving a common goal and a strong drive for results with energy and positive “can do” attitude. 
  • Confidence and clarity under pressure especially within tight timelines. 
  • Undaunted in the face of constant ambiguity with ability to "see through the noise" and create clarity for key industry team stakeholders as it relates to communications and storytelling  
  • Tireless advocate for the retail & consumer goods industry. 
  • A growth mindset with a pre-disposition to learning culture.
