The Manager, Global Strategic Marketing  will be responsible for driving the creation, execution, and management of the Marketing Strategies for our Global Partners that span across the Americas, EMEA and Asia Pacific regions. You will be working with global, segment and regional sales & marketing owners to develop and implement the program strategy, planning, and infrastructure that will drive our Strategic Partners accelerated growth worldwide.


The Manager, Global Strategic Marketing is a well-rounded individual who has excellent communication, interpersonal, presentation, financial/analytical and social skills. The role requires a proven track record in messaging/positioning, program management, and broad execution capabilities. A requirement is to motivate, leverage, and lead internal teams on a project basis to accomplish the investment and execution strategy.

There will be a balance of strategic process thinking, creative ideas, thinking outside of the box, and “rolling up the sleeves” to resolve tactical issues. You are able to challenge the status quo by demonstrating a willingness to re-invent the current process/policies and adopt change as a challenge.


Job Role and Responsibilities:

  • Lead worldwide cross-functional teams to define the marketing strategies that VMware needs to implement with our largest strategic partners.
  • Identify strategies, designs, and program structures to accelerate and drive Partners growth in bookings
  • Lead and drive execution for global hub events, regional events, executive summits
  • Develop the financial model(s) that identify the impact of the programs to VMware business globally.
  • Planning and executing upon joint Demand Gen campaigns with our Managed Partners including digital campaigns, Partner conferences/seminars/webinars.
  • Stimulate partner understanding of VMware mission and brand; and ensure successful, integrated marketing efforts.
  • Support Global partner events and VMworld conferences to fuel sales, technical and executive engagement.
  • Closely track priority critical metrics including the Sales Accepted Leads, pipeline contribution and ensuring the successful allocation and approval of Opex and Development Funds before expiry so we can demonstrate the impact our channel marketing efforts are having on pipeline and revenue.
  • Manage the sales, business unit, Go-To Market, and marketing team feedback on the program once launched and effectively implement a roadmap of change that maps to the VMware business requirements.
  • Build customer, partner, and internal, program documents to clearly identify the benefits, terms and conditions, rules of engagement, and marketing collateral that supports programs globally.
  • Drive the requirements of the systems necessary to support the program and the enhancements to the infrastructure that is built to support the channel partner programs.
  • Drive internal processes and methodologies to evaluate and model the potential impact of new channel partner incentive and customer discounting scenarios and inclusion of new products.
  • Consult with global marketing managers, finance, executives, and sales, to help identify, design, and implement the business processes necessary to implement a successful set of channel partner incentive for VMware globally

Required Skills:

The role requires a proven track record of developing business programs, planning and messaging, program activation and communications, project management and working across multiple teams in complex organizations.

  • BA/BS degree.
  • 5-7 years of experience executing Global and or Worldwide Strategic Marketing campaign for Alliance Marketing, Partner Marketing, Field Marketing, Partner Programs, Channel Sales management, Incentives/Rebates
  • Proven ability to define metrics to assess program impacts and monitor programs for impact and success.
  • Ability to self-start and self-direct work in an exciting environment
  • Experience working cross-functionally, cross-regionally, and globally
  • Intermediate skill level in data analysis and use of Excel
  • Ability to relate effectively to a wide range of stakeholders
  • Ability to tavel 25% of the time
