Job Role and Responsibility

The Finance Manager for VMware Cloud Foundation within the Hyperconverged Infrastructure Business Unit (HCIBU) will support the strategic and financial success in one of VMware’s priority businesses. You will support the BU Controller, along with operational leaders within the BU, in a variety of areas impacting the full P&L, including R&D, marketing and overall strategic direction of our clients and related software solutions. A balanced approach to higher-level market trends, along with deep analysis & modeling (operational & financial) is key to success in this role.

Core Responsibilities

  • Dive into key data points & metrics of the business in order to drive operational & financial modeling
  • Partner internally & externally to understand trends in the wider market, and related impact to our models
  • Support BU P&L review & forecasting – bookings, revenue, cogs, opex – including headcount, as well as other expense & capital requests
  • Support new product & pricing proposals & ROI analyses – providing financial modeling, analysis, & recommendations to our business partners and leaders within the Finance org
  • Collaborate across the Finance org, along with our business partners, in financial planning – Annual Operating Plan, Rolling forecasts, Quarterly Business Reviews
  • Drive key initiatives & projects for the Finance team to completion, supporting in the overall goals for the team & business
  • Work closely with other members of the HCIBU Finance team in support of their projects, as well as the workstreams stretching across the team

Required Skills

  • 6+ years of related experience in a financial management role: corporate financial planning, investment banking, management consulting, etc.
  • Undergraduate degree in finance or similar
  • Functional experience of finance operations in a “large” public company (preferably multinational) environment, and strong knowledge of US GAAP and SEC compliance
  • Ability to provide sound business judgment, strategic thinking, and broad financial and business perspective across the organization
  • Outstanding financial acumen blended with business partnership and leadership
  • Confidence and presence collaborating with and presenting to executive staff
  • Ability to sort through complex issues, translate and communicate them in a clear, concise manner and develop appropriate solutions in a timely and responsive manner
  • Demonstrated track record of attention to detail, time management and prioritization skills
  • Ability to challenge the norms & processes; relentlessly look for ways to add value and to position the organization for success
  • A highly metrics-driven individual with a strong analytical abilities
