    The Senior Technical Writer plans, schedules and produces technical content in various electronic formats for a global audience.


    The Sr. Technical Writer works independently as a contributing member of the international Customer Experience and Knowledge Management department, which is a multi-disciplinary team that develops content to support Waters’ laboratory instrumentation and related software.

    • Lead multi-writer teams to ensure that concise, and well-written technical content is deployed in various electronic formats for a global audience in accordance with department standards. Decision making authority is negotiated with the department project management team on a project by project basis once project scope has been defined.
    • Drive content development, editorial, localization, and regulatory process adherence across all assigned projects.
    • Collaborate as a member of cross-functional project teams by attending meetings, interacting with subject matter experts, and establishing and maintaining good working relationships with all Waters employees. Contribution entails educating project teams in product documentation requirements from a customer, field and clinical perspective. Contribution also includes educating the project team on documentation-specific workflow timelines and requirements to ensure timely release of quality products.
    • Suggest improvements to and support and drive the implementation of new tools and processes across the department.
    • Mentor and train junior and senior technical writers on department, processes and procedure and content development best practices. Conduct these activities as required across all departmental projects.
    • Support and drive identified department goals and initiatives.
    • 7+ years of technical writing experience, including documenting complex devices

    • A Bachelors Degree in a science or engineering related field

    • Qualification writing experience
    • Ability to mentor and train other writers
    • Experience with product development processes

    • Expertise with some publishing technologies (FrameMaker, MadCap Flare, XML, Adobe)

    • Prior experience providing technical writing for laboratory instrumentation and related software highly preferred
