Backblaze is a leading, pre-IPO, cloud storage and backup company with a mission of making, storing and using data easy and affordable. We are seeking a VP of Marketing to join us in taking Backblaze to the next level.

13 years ago we realized that everything was going digital, yet few were backing up this data. Realizing the scope of this looming problem, we set out to solve it by offering easy and affordable cloud backup. Today, we’ve expanded our mission and offerings, helping businesses and individuals not only backup their data, but also store and use their data. We designed and scaled one of the world’s largest cloud storage platforms, with over an exabyte of data stored for businesses, developers, and individuals.

We have a strong and trusted brand, hundreds of thousands of customers world-wide, an inbound engine built on a popular storage blog (~3m annual readers), great partnerships, and efficient self-serve and sales-assisted fulfillment. As VP of Marketing, you will report to the CEO, and be a critical executive team member in supporting our corporate strategy and accelerating predictable and scalable growth.

What You’ll Do:
  • Define and champion the marketing strategy; then plan/execute/track/improve upon it.
  • Empower and scale our marketing team of committed, collaborative, and experienced professionals.
  • Scale growth with a predictable and metrics-driven approach, and a strong SMB focus.
  • Be our foremost storyteller and brand champion. Develop, and oversee implementation of Backblaze's messaging, identity, and positioning through every customer, partner, and investor touchpoint.
  • With Product Management, Engineering and Sales teams, create high-impact launches and successful go-to-market plans.
The Right Fit:
  • Has successfully grown business from startup stage to established, scaling enterprise positioning itself for IPO-readiness and continued high growth (previous IPO and public company experience is preferred)
  • Embraces the business’ and teams’ culture, with the management skill set to help it evolve and grow.
  • Brings strong experience building and scaling SaaS/IaaS marketing approaches including:
    • Integrator and channel partnerships
    • Paid acquisition programs
    • Optimizing self-serve funnels & supporting sales pipelines
    • International market expansion
    • Organic customer acquisition
  • Arrives with domain expertise well-suited to our markets, inclusive of
    • IT Administrators and Application Developers
    • Cloud Storage and IaaS markets
    • SaaS, with understanding of a self-serve to sales assisted spectrum
