Experienced professionals sometimes take a career break for a variety of personal and professional reasons. Returning to work after an absence of two or more years can seem daunting. To help with this transition, UTC’s Re-Empower Program is designed specifically to help you bring your knowledge, experience and creativity back to the workforce.

The UTC Re-Empower Program helps support talented and committed professionals as they rebuild their capabilities, enhance leadership skills, and continue their professional journey. Over the course of the 16-week program, experienced professionals will gain paid, on-the-job experience, have an opportunity to participate in sessions with leadership, develop personalized plans for success and receive coaching to guide their return to work experience. Upon completion of the program, based on performance, Re-Empower participants may have an opportunity to convert to a full-time role.

The first cohort of the UTC Re-Empower Program will run from January 22, 2018 – May 11, 2018.

  • Build core-competencies within the Project Engineering team through coaching, training and counseling of direct reports.
  • Develop and implement Project Engineering best practices, processes and procedures within the Standard Work framework.
  • Implement and support Standard Work processes across all applicable development programs to deliver consistent results.
  • Work collaboratively with other Engineering disciplines, Programs, Operations, Quality and Supply Chain to achieve optimal design solutions and project execution.
  • Work closely with Program Managers and Program Chiefs to ensure customer satisfaction through careful planning, staffing and execution of projects.
  • Participate in the proposal process to develop and review cost estimates, schedules and proposals packages where engineering resources are required
  • Plan and coordinate the usage of IPD team resources by internal customers to meet program cost and schedule objectives within the framework of Standard Work.
  • Develop and implement methods to effectively utilize domestic and foreign outsourced labor to achieve business unit goals.
  • Development and implementation of optimal technical solutions
  • Logical and systematic conversion of product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule and cost constraints.
  • Performing architectural systems exploration and trade studies.
  • BS Degree in Engineering w/ 5-8+ years of related engineering experience.
  • MS Degree in Engineering w/ 2-5+ years of related engineering experience
Minimum Program Qualifications
To qualify for the UTC Re-Empower Program, candidates should:
  • Currently be on a voluntary break of at least two years or more
  • Have a minimum of five years of professional work experience
  • Have an interest in returning to work in a full-time position
  • Have an ability to attend the Re-Empower Program Orientation at UTC Headquarters in Farmington, CT on January 22 – January 24, 2018
