Software Engineers that join our Technologies team will serve as a core member of an engineering team that designs and develops software applications and integrates them with customer communicationinfrastructure components. Writing code and unit tests, working on API specs, automation, and conducting code reviews and testing. Identifying exciting opportunities for adopting new technologies to solve existing needs and predicting future challenges. Performing ongoing refactoring of code, utilizing visualization and other techniques to fast-track concepts, and delivering continuous improvement. Working with product managers to prioritize features for ongoing sprints and managing a list of technical requirements based on industry trends, new technologies, known defects,and issues.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a member of an agile development team that drives user story analysis and elaboration•Designs and develops software solutions
  • Foster the spirit of collaboration across multiple internal teams
  • Participate in code reviews, ad-hoc pair programming; contribute to iterative improvement of tools, automation and practices used by team
  • Mentor team members

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Working closely with Senior Engineers and Staff Architect and cross functional groups to ensure routing rules are designed and built and delivered on-time and aligned to business requirements.
  • Provide application integration support for American Express, developing communication specifications and design using proprietary contact center technology and open source stacks
  • Drive end-to-end infrastructure delivery projects in coordination with vendor partners, global teams and business partners.
  • Involvement in all development activities and accountability for ensuring quality and adherence to Technical, security and compliance standards.
  • Identifying exciting opportunities for adopting new technologies to solve existing needs and predicting future challenges.
  • Performing ongoing refactoring of code, utilizing visualization and other techniques to fast-track concepts, and delivering continuous improvement.
  • Responsible for the production of the associated design documentation.
  • Involved in unit, integration and user acceptance testing.•Assists in resolution of defects as required –level3 support.
Minimum Qualifications
  • 5+ Years of experience with Java backend (J2EE)
  • A BS or MS degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or similar discipline, or equivalent work experience
  • REST API design and implementation
  • SOA, Micro-Services, Containers
  • Database - Couchbase, PostgresSQL
  • Message driven architecture / stream processing w/ kafka
  • Tools - Git, Jenkins, IntelliJ IDEA, Jira, Confluence
  • Familiarity with security principles, SSL, Cryptography
  • Experience building and supporting distributed highly available systems
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to think abstractly and deal with ambiguous/under-defined problems
  • High energy and ‘can-do’ attitude 
  • Interest in new technologies and tools, industry best practices
  • Passion for shipping quality software fast and frequently
  • Attention to detail 
  • Advantage: 2+ Years of experience with RxJava and Vertx or any other Reactive Programing Paradigm tech stack
