The Associate Director, Global Initiatives Lead - GLM is responsible for leading key logistics and market supply-oriented initiatives.  Additionally, this role drives and supports business integration related scope for consolidation of processes and technical solutions

  • Ensure an enterprise mindset approach as it works across various stakeholders including Quality, Supply Chain, IT, Finance/Tax and Order to Cash.  Stakeholders will be Global, Regional and Market level based.
  • Lead cross-functional program/project teams, driving adherence to deadlines, developing scope, and managing risks, issues and actions associated with the program
  • Focus on Logistics/Supply Chain oriented scope. Workload will involve end-to-end supply operations activities
  • Ensure Global Logistics saving synergies are tracked to financial and operational infrastructure targets.  This will include monthly status reviews and reporting to key stakeholders
  • Cover global scope in solutioning/optimizing global, regional or market level initiatives.  This will include facilitating cross-functional stakeholders in analysis / design and solutioning sessions.  Initiatives will typically involve such areas as: warehousing, transportation, network design and associated technical scope
  • Planning and driving Logistics scope in business development scope.  This will include collaborating with Global BD team and focusing on Logistics impact assessments and initiative planning and execution
  • Scope, schedule, and resource planning for key initiatives. 

Key responsibilities

  • Leads and supports market integration programs for multiple scope categories including technical / ERP and operational integrations
  • Develops, socializes and manages cost savings opportunities and synergy targets
  • Manages and reports on financial synergy targets for Logistics scope
  • Partners, in a lead role, with Procurement in developing, issuing and evaluating Request for Proposals (RFP) inclusive of finalizing supplier selection and integration
  • Supports Logistics Strategy development and implementation efforts
  • Liaise with multiple program management offices in key initiative status reporting
  • Partners with Supply Chain peers in market level solutions relating to Commercial Go To Market strategies
  • Communicates effectively to make sure priorities are defined and aligned with business goals
  • Interfaces with multiple internal and external partners (3PL, CMOs) including logistics, inventory planning and purchasing, customer service operations, finance and customs & trade to align on assumptions and implications for distribution optimization
  • Leads and supports Business Development (acquisitions and divestitures) efforts impacting logistics operations
  • Global scope will include travel (~25-50% of time depending on initiatives in progress)

Professional experience and qualifications


  • B.S./ B.A. in Supply Chain, Logistics, or Industrial Engineering.  MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • Project Management Institute, APICS and or Six Sigma certifications are a plus

Experience / Knowledge Desired:

  • 8+ years in operations experience in Supply Chain, Logistics, and or Customer Service areas
  • Experience in working on international scope in a global Biotech/Pharmaceutical or Consumer company organized in a matrix structure
  • Technical aptitude for working with ERP (SAP) and the associated modules -  Inventory management, Supply Chain/Planning, Sales and Distribution and Warehouse Management Systems
  • Working directly with or for Third Party Logistics (3PL) providers in operations or technical areas
  • Familiarity with Procurement steps in Request for Proposals (RFP) and service provider contracts
  • Portfolio and Project Management on Global scope
  • Excellent analytical / problem solving skills in working through physical and financial business processes
  • Working on developing strategic plans / outlooks and driving plans to operational reality
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills including communications with senior management
  • Bilingual / Fluency in a second language a plus
