You will collaborate with stakeholders across the organization to drive consistency and ensure we deliver a great client experience. You will drive conversations with vendors to strengthen partnerships and hold them accountable for their role in our success. You will help us evolve our IT Asset Management practice to ensure we’re flexible enough to keep pace with an ever-changing business landscape. You will evaluate existing processes with a constant eye toward improvement. Suggest ideas on how we improve to create a better user experience both internally (IT team) and externally (end users).

What You'll Be Doing

  • Lead IT Asset Management (ITAM) operations team globally (ITAM encompasses both hardware and software assets)
  • Manage employee laptop deployment for the Ciena population, ensuring the team has what they need, on time, to be productive and successful
  • Work with local business units, including finance, to ensure we are meeting business obligations to manage devices
  • Prepare and manage IT asset expense budgets
  • Serve as primary liaison with other organizations across Ciena, including IT partners, for all aspects of ITAM
  • Lead the digitization and process optimization of the ITAM space, looking for ways to innovate to create the very best client experience,
  • Exhibit critical thinking by seeing outcomes and providing direction when there are multiple stakeholders and solutions
  • Demonstrate consultative skills in solving problems by using analytics and critical thinking
  • Build strategic partnerships with vendors and hold them accountable for delivery
  • Develop asset control processes to monitor accountability identification, maintenance, location and contracts
  • Assist in inventory management, procurement and shipment activities
  • Analyze purchasing effectiveness and resolve purchasing issues
  • Work with procurement primes to coordinate contract negotiation, contract renewals and vendor management activities

Who You Are & What Makes You Qualified

  • Exhibit PHD – Passion, Heart, Drive
  • 7+ years’ general experience in IT
  • Technical knowledge of IT hardware a plus
  • Strong interpersonal skills in communicating (written and oral), collaborating and team building
  • Strong analytical, planning and organizational skills with an ability to manage competing demands
  • Strategic thinker with a continuous improvement mindset
  • Desire to drive positive user experience across the organization
  • Ability to work with and influence people of all roles and levels
  • Comfortable holding others accountable for delivery
