Competitive Intelligence drives research and analysis on our competitors to inform our strategic decisions, including roadmap development, sales positioning and playbooks, partner integrations and acquisitions. Competitive Intelligence owns staying current on competitor features and pricing to make informed and data-driven plans to help Mindbody be the software of choice for the industry.


The Competitive Intelligence Researcher drives research on Mindbody’s competitors to support our consumer, business, and strategic initiatives. This role draws on research skills and analysis abilities to provide Mindbody with information and insights across our ecosystem. This role helps to organize and prioritize the competitive research performed by the rest of the team as well as being an individual contributor. This role is also the primary correspondent to collaborate and partner with our stakeholders to execute on our competitive vision.


•Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience with an emphasis in Economics, Marketing, Psychology, Business Administration preferred.
•Relevant graduate degree strongly preferred.
•3+ years of market research, marketing, sales, or competitive intelligence experience.
•Working knowledge of Salesforce.
•Working knowledge of competitive intelligence analysis platforms (such as Crayon or Klue) preferred but not required.
•Exceptional analytical skills and critical thinking abilities.
•Solid business writing capabilities.
•Experience with qualitative research preferred.
•Adaptive to pulling from multiple data sources (Salesforce, Qualitative interviews, web research, etc.) to organize layers of research to depict a holistic story of the competitive landscape.
•Strong leadership and ability to influence stakeholders to set direction, align work efforts and ensure outstanding execution.
•Effective presentation skills at a high level with stakeholders and executives to communicate the competitive landscape, Mindbody’s status within that landscape, and insights of how we can position ourselves better in a clear, digestible, and concise manner.
•Proactive collaborator and communicator with product, sales, enablement, product marketing, marketing and partner teams ensuring that stakeholders are informed to pivot their efforts. •Comfortable in managing expectations of leadership, level of confidence, and suggest alternative approaches where applicable to optimize our success.
•Ability to take direction, quickly pivot when needed to prioritize and deliver on competitive intelligence requests from leadership.
•Passionate about technology, the wellness industry and committed to continuously evolving and learning.


•Serve as lead on competitive intelligence efforts, directing, prioritizing, communicating, and executing on the plan to improve stakeholder knowledge.
•Planning, prioritizing, and performing in-depth quarterly secret shops of competitors. Collecting stakeholder requirements, directing the shop parameters, and executing on the final presentation, documentation, and dissemination of relevant insights for stakeholder teams.
•Produce quarterly competitive report that summarizes top threats and opportunities and invite stakeholders and leadership to quarterly readout. Coordinating data information to highlight/assess/interpret trends and themes for proactive action.
•Proactively engage with stakeholders in sales, enablement, marketing, product marketing and product to ensure deep understand of needs and that information is consistent and up to date for business use.
•Effectively present to leadership to ensure concise and digestible information to help inform strategic business decisions.
•Engage with Research to work with external businesses, champs, and consultants to capture relative data points on product highlights, lowlights, wish lists and roadblocks.
•Create and keep competitive battlecards and competitor web comparisons up to date.
•Ensure the competitive matrix scorecard is up to date for stakeholders to access.
•Highlight relevant industry news on competitors to the #competitors slack channel.
•Collaborate with internal stakeholders on effective processes to ensure integrity and cleanliness of data.
•All other duties as assigned


•Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard.
•This role regularly utilizes a computer, including the use of a monitor, mouse, and keyboard.
•This position is mostly stationary and will be required to remain stationary for extended periods of time.
•The noise level in the work environment is usually moderately quiet.


Duties are performed under limited supervision. Often responsible for planning and organizing their own work, which may or may not be directly related to general business operations of the company or its customers. Will receive training and guidance from manager as needed. Individual contributors may be required to regularly exercise discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance depending on the nature of the position. No direct management responsibility.
