We are seeking a Hardware Engineering Section Manager to support program area responsibilities for the Advanced RF (Radio Frequency) Hardware Engineering Section. The effective candidate will be an active participant in the ACT (Advanced Concepts and Technologies) hardware engineering team. This position entails being a section level leader to a multi-disciplinary hardware group as well as an team member contributor on programs. The program work will center on high speed computing clusters and hardware integration to various sensors and larger level systems.
This effort will require the selected candidate to: •Perform functional administration tasks for a team of up to 15 engineers as well as be regularly engaged in the technical and engineering programmatic aspects of programs within ARF (Advanced Radio Frequency) products. The Section Manager’s primary responsibility is to ensure that the work performed by those in the section is on schedule, on budget, and right the first time. Engineering leadership tasks include but not are not limited to such activities as ensuring adequate resources (personnel and assets) are made available to programs, providing technical guidance, developing career paths, facilitating alignment with engineering command media, guiding productivity improvement and risk mitigation. •The Section Manager will interact frequently with Team Leads, Chief Engineers and Program Managers to ensure that the section is meeting the needs of its internal and external customers. •Collaborate with engineers from other disciplines, such as Systems, and Software Engineering, to obtain pertinent information required to accomplish tasks. Ensure consistent application of engineering best practices and activity undertaken are conducted to common standards in accordance with outlined processes. •Three quarters of the Section Manager's time will be committed to direct work on programs in roles such as Integrated Product Team Lead (IPTL), team lead, team member technical contributor, technical reviewer, etc. including the following:◦Participate in the full system lifecycle development including requirements analysis, design, implementation and testing, hardware integration and test, system level integration, and performing requirements analysis/definition to ensure the system will meet all customer requirements ◦Participate in hardware artifacts review ◦Participate in customer and/or program technical review presentations, and provide task progress and solution status updates
Required Skills: •10+ years of experience in engineering development or equivalent experience •Technical leadership experience managing geographically and technically diverse teams including working with Program office and Customer teams throughout the entire hardware life cycle •Provide cost estimates for proposal activities •Evaluate performance of section members and ensure on-time completion of required and suggested training •Facilitate career development of team members, and conduct meaningful performance development discussions •Must be able to communicate effectively in both written and oral form •Applicants must have the ability to guide their own workload and have meaningful resolution analysis skills •Ability to work occasional overtime to support critical program events •Willing to travel <20% of the time to support flight tests and off‐site integration activities
Clearance Requirements: Must have an active and in-scope Secret U.S. security clearance. TS/SSBI preferred.
Desired Skills: •Advanced RF (Radio Frequency) experience working across diverse RF (Radio Frequency) bands from VHF (Very High Frequency) to S-band. •Experience with advanced RF (Radio Frequency) modelling, stripline, microstrip, high-bandwidth connectors, signal integrity analysis, 3D finite element modelling, RF (Radio Frequency) power supplies, Printed Circuit Board materials, assembly techniques and test procedures, high speed ADC’s (Analog-to-Digital Converter) and DAC’s (Digital-to-Analog Converter). •Experience with RF (Radio Frequency) antenna measurement and characterization techniques. •Working knowledge of high speed VHDL (Vhsic Hardware Description Language) architecture and design techniques, computational techniques in CPU’s (Central Processing Unit), GPU’s (Graphics Processing Unit) and FPGA’s (Field Programmable Gate Array) •Experience supporting the development or production of tactical and space-based RF (Radio Frequency) hardware. •Familiarity with Agile lifecycle process including Scrum •Knowledge of Cost Account Management (CAM) •Experience managing vendors to develop sub-system components •Knowledge of Earn Value Management System (EVMS)
Required Education: Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics or Mathematics or related field;
Desired Education: Masters of Science in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Computer Engineering, Physics, or very close equivalent. #ACT
