Chief of Staff

Full Time Lead, Senior

The company is at its “growth stage” with amazing customer retention rates and a happy, expanding membership base that sees real impact on their careers. We have a team of approximately 85 and want to bring in a Chief of Staff to be a force-multiplier for our two Co-Founders - the CEO and President of the company.

For the right person this is an incredible opportunity to:
  • Have a unique perspective and access across the company: You’ll have a view across the entire company while working hand in hand with the leaders to prepare and join board meetings, lead executive staff meetings, and support the larger company videos with necessary data sets.
  • Manage Executive Team Priorities: Audit what’s most important for the executive team, review and synthesize major company initiatives and how much time is being spent on them.
  • Lead And Learn From Special Projects: At PowerToFly’s growth rate, there’s always an important project that needs a leader. Some projects fall out of the purview of our executive team and need to be taken on by a Chief of Staff who can research, lead an evaluation process or run outreach if the project requires bringing in outside resources.
  • Network: This role connects you into our leaders’ network. If you’re a future entrepreneur it’s a great opportunity to build relationships with potential partners, venture capitalists and board members.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Own the financials process of the company including the end of month closing process with our Head of Sales, Operations Manager and CPA.
  • Rethink the presentation of key financial metrics for our Board of Directors, current and future investors, and finance partners.
  • Manage the 4 year FP&A forecast
  • Ad-hoc or longer term special projects support - e.g. lead a metrics overhaul, do customer research on an adjacent business opportunity, run an acquisition process, lead the search for an executive hire.
  • Review and optimize company wide KPIs.
  • Establish decision-making frameworks - lay out the options or scenarios, and detail the pros/cons or trade-offs for each in order to support Executive decision making
  • Put into place and oversee operational procedures that help your executive better manage their meetings, team, and workload.
  • Improve internal operations with clear and consistent processes, checklists, templates and playbooks.

Required Skills:

  • Strong FP&A background, perhaps from investment banking or another heavy “financials” role
  • Extreme attention to detail and organization
  • Ability to work at a fast pace using all the startup tools (Slack, Google docs, Salesforce)
  • Thrives in a remote working environment
  • Knows how to handle sensitive information and is a natural at building relationships based on trust

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Has HR experience, when it comes to processes, compliance,
  • Has experience working in an international multi-cultural team (we are global with team members in 20 countries)
  • Can demonstrate building trust and taking feedback
  • 4-8 years of experience is preferred
  • Ability to work in the East Coast time zone
  • Impeccable writing skills
