As the junior data analyst with Hearst Television, you’ll have a focus on digital video and play a key role in building out our new, exciting, fresh direct-to-consumer video offering on OTT. We’re looking for a budding data analyst who’s eager to learn and grow working with both our OTT product line as well as help out with some traditional digital analytics work. This position works closely with the content team to help answer challenging research questions and build custom reporting to support our extensive suite of tools: Conviva, Cleeng, Google Analytics, various app store analytics (Apple, Amazon, Roku), Firebase, BigQuery, Looker.

Hearst TV owns and operates 33 television stations and two radio stations, reaching 21 million U.S. television households across 39 states. Our stations operate web and mobile platforms which reach 40 million unique visitors every month.


The candidate will be responsible for:

  • Performing ad hoc data pulls to support content and product initiatives, including bespoke research requests from the OTT team to help optimize the offering for maximum engagement
  • Analyzing and interpreting trends and patterns across multiple datasets
  • Assisting with the design and creation of performance reports and dashboards for key stakeholders
  • Clearly communicating insights to multiple teams using data visualization and analysis to help inform content and product strategy
  • Validating data to support internal reporting platforms, with particular focus on video/OTT, working with a quality assurance analyst as needed
  • As needed, help with non-video analytics work, such as Google Analytics, monthly KPIs, Comscore

  • Proficiency using digital analytics, content analytics, and events-based analytics software such as Conviva, Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics, Firebase, Mixpanel, Parse.ly, or similar
  • Proficiency with dashboarding tools such as Looker, DataStudio, PowerBI, Domo, Datorama, or similar
  • MS Excel, Google Sheets, or similar pivot table spreadsheet skills
  • Beginner-level experience with SQL-based querying and analysis
  • Familiarity with or a strong desire to learn about data ETL pipelines
  • Experience with video-focused platforms and services a major plus
  • Experience with app store analytics like Apple, Google Play, Amazon, Roku also a major plus

Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong analytical mindset with a drive to perform self-initiated analysis and troubleshooting to support multiple business initiatives
  • Ability to document technical analytics processes

  • 0-2 years experience in data QA or digital analytics insights and reporting

  • BS degree in related data analysis, statistics or engineering field preferred
